This full time permanent position in the BC Foundation assigned to KBCS is responsible for progressively increasing the KBCS’s membership and annual gift revenue; providing leadership and direction to all aspects of membership including database management, member communications, customer service, fund drive management, and other areas as they pertain to fundraising.  The Associate Director of Development – KBCS is a key part of the BC Foundation and KBCS Management Team.

Essential Functions/Typical Duties

  • Manage the member services department.
  • Responsible for all membership customer service.
  • Serve as Producer for on-air fund drive campaigns including volunteer management, on-air talent training, fund drive premiums and scheduling.
  • In coordination with the BC Foundation, maximize giving opportunities and strategies.
  • Manage all direct mail campaigns and email communications.
  • Research and identify mid-level and major donor prospects
  • Solicit individual donor prospects, as appropriate
  • Assist with volunteer coordination including communication with existing station volunteer programmers, office staff and phone volunteers. Work with other KBCS staff on recruitment, retention and training.
  • Oversee proper tracking and receipting all individual donations.
  • Analyze data in order to strategically manage membership department initiatives.
  • Gather info to submit for Benchmark reports.
  • Assist the BC Foundation in completing annual audit.
  • Serve as member of station management team; participate in staff meetings, retreats, other events and activities as needed.
  • Assist with station events as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent.
  • Four to five years of progressive experience in a membership or annual giving office, preferably public media environment.
  • Two years of work experience in planning and implementing effective fund drive efforts.
  • Excellent computer skills, including previous experience working with Raiser’s Edge or another constituent management system.
  • A passion for the value of community-based public radio.
  • Experience with direct mail and social media campaigns.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Leadership skills and vision for a competitive public radio market.
  • A strong commitment to improve KBCS’s financial well-being as well as its image and visibility throughout our broadcast regions.
