About the Role

The position is responsible for developing, producing and tracking digital communication vehicles that grow audiences and revenue by enhancing awareness of WHYY’s programs and services within a variety of constituencies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing & Editing

Collaborate on writing efforts for WHYY brand and programs, especially new products; circulate and monitor to ensure message consistency.
Ensure quality and content of communications that originate in other areas of the organization, including newsletters and eblasts, especially related to brand positioning and style.
Email Communication

Coordinate processing and dissemination of email campaigns through Engaging Networks or other platforms to uphold deadlines and ensure timely delivery.
Liaise with Member Services Manager around Passport communications.
Research and create new or limited run newsletters to increase audience engagement.
Serve as primary copy editor and technical proofer for Member Communication Specialist & sub-brand newsletter editors.
Work with web developers to create and troubleshoot web-based email and newsletter templates
Fundraising

Manage sub-brand communications during on-air pledge drives.
Assist with renewal emails and associated data queries.
Serve as quality control on recipient queries for Member Communication Specialist.
Training & Support

Serve as consultant and trainer for Membership, Newsroom and Major Gift event reminders and event follow ups and internal communications.
PERIODIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in gathering data for email engagement analytics reports.
Support social media and web advertisement efforts to ensure alignment with marketing communications strategy.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, advertising, marketing or other related discipline is necessary.

Experience: Two to four years relevant experience in a marketing environment with a solid portfolio of marketing communications writing and content creation. Hands-on knowledge of email systems and experience driving revenue through various communications touch-points. Creativity, initiative and a willingness to support organizational change are important.

Technical Skills:

Goal-oriented writer (clicks, donations, registrations, etc), with an instinct for presenting materials in a compelling and informative way.
A skilled proofreader.
Internet, computer savvy, and database savvy, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Able to understand, edit and create queries in a database.
Able to perform basic HTML edits (as related to email marketing).
Able to meet strict goals and deadlines.
Ability to mine data and convert it into insights that are useful and practical to people across the organization
Experience with email marketing databases a must.
