Digital Fundraising Manager – Illinois Public Media
Illinois Public Media seeks a full-time Digital Fundraising Manager to engage and cultivate potential IPM donors using emerging digital platforms. The Digital Fundraising Manager will help us expand our member base utilizing analytics, social media, email marketing, and other evolving fundraising techniques. The position reports to the Director of Development and works with IPM’s Development staff to help diversify the donor base of a dynamic public media organization.
Job Summary
The Digital Fundraising Manager manages and oversees growth of online fundraising and engagement programs by executing effective strategies and techniques via email, website promotions, and other digital channels. The Digital Fundraising Manager will provide coordinated leadership of digital fundraising and engagement activities, developing and implementing marketing strategies to support fundraising across the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
Digital Fundraising
- Oversee digital fundraising and engagement initiatives to acquire, renew and retain members.
- Develop and manage emails, landing pages, and tools for online fundraising activities, including donation forms and event management.
- Coordinate with other members of the Development department on omni-channel fundraising campaigns, ensuring the creation and delivery of strategic support messaging is consistent across all platforms
- Work with Development Director on new initiatives and innovative concepts for public media fundraising.
- Liaise with of fundraising tools on website and social media engagement and serve as digital content manager for Development department.
Donor Relations/Support
- Oversee creation and execution of online cultivation, stewardship and engagement communications.
- Respond to general donor inquiries about general membership
- Assist Development department with implementing new donor digital strategies and benefits.
- Work within an existing brand voice, both in visual representation and editorial style, in order to support the consistency of messaging across campaigns and the organization.
Events & Other Projects
- The Digital Fundraising Manager participates in station fundraising activities and Outreach and Engagement projects, which may include on-air appearances for radio and television pledge drives.
- Stay abreast of industry best-practices, within public media, among nonprofits more broadly and in the commercial sector.
Additional Physical Demands
Normal business hours for Illinois Public Media are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The Digital Fundraising Manager works a regular work week covering those times, with the understanding that some evening and weekend commitments will be required. These commitments may include fundraising drives, community engagement activities and special events.
The Digital Fundraising Manager works primarily in a normal office setting. Some responsibilities will require the Digital Fundraising Manager to work in the radio and television broadcasting studios. The Digital Fundraising Manager should also be comfortable traveling to various off-site locations, greeting the public, and participating in meetings and conferences in various venues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
- Demonstrated experience with building and maintaining donation forms, surveys and other user engagement features, and running reports/interpreting audience analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using direct marketing techniques.
- Working knowledge and experience with CRM (Customer Relations Management) software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Strong budgetary and vendor management skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge of and proven ability to develop and implement digital fundraising strategies.
- Ability to move between different departments and bridge different goals/strategies within the organization
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 – Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 1/6/2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
