Position Summary:

It’s an exciting time to join Marketplace and American Public Media. As donor engagement coordinator, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on building a national community of dedicated supporters, driving loyalty-based and digital revenue for the APM portfolio of programs – including Marketplace, the most listened-to business news and information program in the country. In this role, you will support the implementation and growth of new and innovative fundraising strategies that engage our listeners to support American Public Media and Marketplace’s major multi-platform growth initiatives. Specifically, you will coordinate digital and other fundraising communications, as well as events and other cultivation, solicitation and engagement activities to help build our donor relations efforts and to strengthen a culture of philanthropy within the organization.

Minimum Compensation: $22.59 per hour. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Create segmentation for solicitation and cultivation/stewardship emails, including establishing criteria for and working with Development/Marketing/Audience Insights teams to pull targeted recipient lists
  • Develop and coordinate giving copy and coordinate images for website and social media
  • Write copy and coordinate production of giving promos for on-demand
  • Research, request samples, and coordinate creative needs for premium development
  • Generate reports to analyze email and online giving results and make recommendations to strengthen future efforts
  • Coordinate surveys to support donor engagement research
  • Develop, send, and manage event invitations/RSVPs
  • Coordinate/support virtual events for donors and prospects
  • Support implementation of Marketplace donor stewardship plan
  • Maintain national fundraising team’s calendar of communications, stewardship, and solicitations
  • Coordinate and execute donor retention email plans across all national programs, including renewals, sustainer upgrade, sustainer conversion, and credit card recapture efforts.
  • Develop online giving forms and thank-you gift catalogs using Springboard platform
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the national fundraising team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years’ fundraising, communications, or other relevant experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop donor appeals and stewardship communications for a variety of audience segments, with diverse representation in mind, via multiple platforms.
  • Proven project management expertise, including the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands and multiple stakeholders while maintaining a commitment to excellence and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and/or digital media, including demonstrable social networking experience
  • Editing, presentation, and communication experience and skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to create personal relationships and to communicate effectively delivering exceptional customer service to a variety of stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working with donor data and CRM systems
  • Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals; support cooperation, collaboration and the sharing of information.
  • Passion for public media broadcasting, as well as for community education and outreach.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for and a commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity, and access with an openness to learning.
  • Excellent computer skills related to the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
