Description
KUNR Public Media seeks a visionary general manager who aspires to lead the news and information ecosystem of beautiful Northern Nevada and California’s Eastern Sierra. We operate three stations – NPR member KUNR (rebroadcast on KNCC in Elko) and classical and jazz outlet KNCJ – as well as digital assets.
With a committed staff of 20, KUNR Public Media punches well above its weight. Our journalists have won numerous recent Murrow and PMJA awards, in addition to competitive national grants from Story Corps, ONA, Facebook and AIR for innovative programming and engagement initiatives. KUNR is a member station of the Mountain West News Bureau and partners with regional digital news providers. While our broadcast services remain robust, the new GM will help us enhance our digital content to serve new and diverse audiences.

The GM reports directly to the Reynolds School dean, who seeks to reimagine the role of public university licensees.
The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree and six years of media experience. Ideal candidates will demonstrate vision for the role of public media in the changing information marketplace, an appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion, and a collegial, collaborative spirit. KUNR staff are University of Nevada, Reno employees, with full university health, education and retirement benefits.
KUNR Public Media is headquartered in Reno, a thriving city with vibrant art and food communities, and a recreational paradise located less than an hour from Lake Tahoe and an easy drive from wine country and San Francisco.
