The Opportunity
We are actively seeking dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Generalist, Digital Platforms in Wixom, MI, in a hybrid work structure.
Detroit PBS is a multifaceted media organization engaging local and national audiences across broadcast and digital platforms. The Digital Platforms Generalist is responsible for the oversight and implementation of content across the organization’s websites, video apps, platforms. This role supports Detroit PBS and its initiatives with a focus on PBS Books and its sub-brands.
Essential Functions
- Update content and promotions on assigned websites, apps, and video platforms, using WordPress, HTML and CSS, PBS Media Manager, PBS Curate, and YouTube.
- Produce and edit platform-specific content and create webpages (text, images, and video), including themed pages/content collections.
- Develop graphics and images for digital marketing, i.e., carousel images, thumbnails, and banners.
- Collaborate with Design team on relevant graphics for different platform needs.
- Create website popups to promote membership, donation, and newsletter sign-up.
- Create email communications for multiple assigned newsletters and email marketing.
- Collaborate with initiative and Multiplatform Marketing team on content marketing strategy for newsletters and website.
- Identify and implement ways to improve user experience on assigned websites.
- Assist with monitoring, analyzing, and reporting performance analytics.
- Work with PBS Digital to stay current with products and tools, including Station Manager, Curate, Media Manager, and Domo.
- Maintain a global understanding of all Detroit PBS initiative’s platforms.
- Collaborate with Multiplatform Marketing team and other initiatives to ensure Brand consistency and digital best practices across platforms.
- Ensure sites follow SEO best practices to improve and promote digital discoverability.
- Work with Digital Platforms Manager and vendors to identify and troubleshoot bugs and issues across platforms.
- Work with Digital Platforms manager on list segmentation, A/B testing and automation strategy.
- Collaborate with Multiplatform marketing team to develop and publish short form content.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Experience with WordPress and video platform Content Management Systems.
- Knowledge of website page development, including use of HTML, CSS, and site plug-ins.
- Experience writing copy for digital marketing with an eye towards user engagement and click-through.
- Experience with Adobe Suite, including Premiere Pro and Photoshop, Canva, Capcut.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, Teams.
- Familiarity with project management tools, i.e., Teamwork, Airtable.
- Experience with video editing, graphic design and digital storytelling.
- Experience with data analysis tools.
- Ability to set and meet deadlines, work irregular and extended hours when necessary.
- Attention to detail is very important.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, including conveying technical complexities to non-technical colleagues and documenting workflows.
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to work effectively with people across all lines of the Company.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in managing content and digital platforms.
- Experience with Content Management Systems.
Physical Demands
Individuals must be able to:
- Type, and sit behind a desk for extended periods.
- Work in the field under a wide range of climate conditions.
- Look at video, computer screens, printed documents.
- Occasional drive and or travel on company business.
Work Environment
The individual is exposed to a typical office setting with computer equipment.
