KMUW and the Kansas News Service are looking for a full-time health care reporter to join our award-winning team. This reporter would support our mission by focusing on health, the social determinants of health and their connection to public policy. That could mean reporting on everything from the latest COVID-19 news to what effect climate change will have on our health. It also could include the consumer side of health care, the latest medical developments, public policy decisions influencing health care and examining health equity disparities across Kansas. This reporter would be based at KMUW in Wichita, but serve as part of the Kansas News Service, a partnership of public radio stations across Kansas.

The best candidates for this position will have:

* Outstanding writing and reporting skills
* A minimum of three years of experience in a professional newsroom. Experience with public radio is preferred.
* A strong interest in health care reporting and the issues surrounding health care.
* A desire to seek out and include diverse voices and communities in their reporting.
* An ability to work as part of a team.
* Impeccable journalistic ethics and standards.
* A curious and creative bent.
* An ability to tell people’s stories.
