About the Job

The Membership Audience Coordinator will work directly with the Membership Director to build a business and communication strategy that grows, and builds loyalty with, premium members across LehighValleyNews.com (our new digital news platform), PBS39, and 91.3 WLVR. You will have a direct hand in developing and executing email, digital, and new membership perk campaigns that acquire and retain our most loyal audience- the readers, viewers, and listeners that support our mission through a monthly or annual membership.

LehighValleyNews.com is the area’s only nonprofit and locally operated digital news platform and joinsthe Lehigh Valley’s Emmy Award-winning PBS television station (PBS39) and the region’s only “all day, every day” NPR news radio station (91.3 WLVR).As we grow, expanding our digital audience tops the list of priorities. We’re in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania – a news-rich community whose traditional media have been battered and shrunken by layoffs and corporate ownership. The successful candidate willposition the new platform for success while at the same time help grow our audience for both our media stations. As a public media organization, we have an obligation to our community to keep them informed, inspired and engaged.

What You’ll Do:

-Work with the Membership Director to build, test, and execute the membership acquisition messaging and communication, on the website, in email, and on air.

-Execute an effective email strategy to acquire and retain premium members.

-Assist the Membership Director in creating new promotions, perks, and campaigns to grow the digital news platform’s premium membership base.

-Attend select events as an ambassador for the digital news platform’s premium membership program.

The Ideal Candidates Are

Strong and creative writers and marketers, able to bloom in a startup environment and not get frustrated or overwhelmed by the pace of growth. Willing to experiment, test, fail, and test again. Passionate about local, non-profit news, and understand the importance of a strong membership base to keep the newsroom sustainable.

The Ideal Candidates Have

-At least one year of experience in the marketing, communications, or journalism field.

-Experience writing for an audience, preferably in a marketing or journalism capacity.

-Knowledge about content management systems and/or email marketing.

Education and Training

A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business, or journalism is preferred, equivalent experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of professional experience, or have completed internships in the marketing, communications, or journalism field.
