Class Title Coordinator, Broadcasting (Program Manager)
Job Description Participates in the development and implementation of unit policies and procedures. Directs the radio programming and contract productions.
1. Creates, edits, and perfects daily jazz music and program logs using Scheduling and Automation Software (MusicMaster & ENCO) for 24/7 operation.
2. Manages planning and implementation of program schedules and the traffic system for on-air programming.
3. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
4. Ensures compliance with university, local, state and federal regulations related to programming activity.
5. Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and-long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishments of established goals.
6. On Air activities as assigned, including Live and Automated Music Hosting on a regular basis.
7. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
8. Facilitates studio broadcasts and recordings, ISDN feeds, and live call-ins and interviews.
9. Responsible for correct daily on-air traffic logs and maintaining a traffic log library with duly noted discrepancies. Verifying underwriting to include automation activities for all hours of automated programming.
10. Supervises broadcast production activities: Content Depot subscriptions and operations, including the recording and the development/editing of all audio programs for broadcast.
11. Oversees weekend host, part-time employees and volunteers: their operations duties, and their schedules. Coordinates and schedules absences and fill-in hosts, and playlist changes to cover absences.
12. Oversees production of station underwriting spots, promotional spots, and station host promos; and maintains current recordings on ENCO, and backup copies of all on appropriate storage devices.
13. Participates in planning and execution of station fund drives, special events and outreach activities.
14. Coordinates with the chief engineer to resolve specific broadcast problems.
15. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of the radio station.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Additional Minimum Requirements
Preferences Prefer Experience in MusicMaster or comparable music programming software.
Prefer Experience with ENCO DAD automation or comparable system.
Prefer three years of experience in radio operations, programming and on-air duties.
