As the PBS Utah producer of public affairs, the job candidate is equally adept at studio producing, writing, video editing, and managing teams. Job candidate will oversee three public affairs series; produce in the control room for live and live-to-tape productions; manage remote and in-studio talent; manage and edit scripts, rundowns, and graphics requests; and manage all post-production editing of episodes in a series for broadcast, digital, and social. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or related field or equivalency; at least 3 years producing news or public affairs content; excellent producing, writing, research, and reporting/storytelling skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent project leadership, organizational, and time management skills; technically and creatively proficient with Adobe Premiere Suite; the proven ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders with diplomacy, trust, and integrity; and experience in communicating with and reporting or telling the stories of marginalized groups.

Responsibilities
1. Series Producer, Utah Insight, a series about statewide issues and concerns. Duties include managing the series and the team in coordination with the episode producer/hosts, brainstorm and research topics, pre-interview and book guests, manage and coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables for each episode via Asana, copy edit each host’s and reporter’s scripts, assist each reporter’s package with vision, flow, and execution, manage and coordinate each episode’s assets [rundown, graphic requests, and teleprompter script], produce in the control room and live time, direct talent, manage Skype panelist, oversee recordings, and oversee the post-production editing and uploads for broadcast, digital, and social. Utah Insight airs weekly May to August.
2. Producer, The Hinckley Report, a political roundtable discussion series. In collaboration with the producers from The Hinckley Institute of Politics, manage timelines and deliverables, control room produce, live time, direct talent, manage Skype panelists, write copy, manage recordings, and oversee post-production editing and uploads for broadcast, digital and social. The Hinckley Report airs August to May.
3. Control Room Producer, Governor’s Monthly News Conference, a monthly press conference series with the Governor of Utah. In coordination with the Producer/Host, manage timelines and deliverables, control room produce, live time, manage Skype reporters, direct talent, manage recordings, and oversee post-production editing and uploads for broadcast, digital and social. Airs 10 months a year.
4. Produce other live and live-to-tape studio productions as needed.
5. Write scripts, rundowns and/or copy.
6. May edit teases, segments, or full episodes.
7. May field produce.
8. Manage and oversee licenses, agreements, drives, and assets.
9. May supervise direct reports.
10. Represent PBS Utah in the community. For example, by participating in a PBS Utah Major Donor event or at a PBS Utah Community Engagement event.
11. Maintain editorial integrity and adheres to a high journalistic code of ethics.
12. Perform duties as assigned.

Preferences
Experience working in a studio or control room preferred. Familiarity with news or public affairs preferred. Ability to write and speak fluently in a second language preferred.
