Description
SUMMARY
This position leads WGVU Major and Planned Giving as part of the Development team to achieve revenue and expense goals in support of PBS, NPR, and digital platforms in West Michigan.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Build and manage a portfolio of 150+ donors, and responsible for actively cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding gifts of $1,000 and above.
- Reach or exceed annual fundraising goals, as determined in collaboration with leadership.
- Participate in WGVU on-air fund drives and community/station events.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials.
- Plan and manage Major Gift recognition events.
- Maintain an active donor engagement schedule, traveling as necessary to various parts of West Michigan to visit major and planned giving donors and prospects.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 3-5 years relevant experience.
- Experience soliciting and closing major gifts ($5,000+) from individuals.
- A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience working with donors within the philanthropic community.
- Successful interpersonal relationship building skills.
- Ability to work autonomously within a results-oriented team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with development databases and CRM’s for donor tracking and reporting.
- Experience with prospect research.
- Experience meeting with prospects and donors face to face to solicit major gifts.
- Experience writing compelling fundraising letters and proposals.
- Ability to articulate accurately and effectively, the mission, vision, and values of WGVU Public Media.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some nights, weekends campus closures, and holidays.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
- Experience using donor management systems, in particular Allegiance database and Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Experience using Monday.com project management platform.
- Familiarity with donor research tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a normal office environment, in production areas, and on location. Travel may be required. At times, may be required to appear on WGVU Public Media for fundraising and promotional announcements or events.

Salary: $66-68,000, commensurate with experience
