Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt / Union / 40 Hours Per Week
Do you have a passion for classical music? Do you love detailed background research and discovering the historical context of that music? This is the job for you! This position will be responsible for researching and entering contextual and historical information about specific compositions into our digital database. The candidate will also add new recordings into the All Classical Portland musical library. In addition, the selected candidate will create unique digital content for All Classical Portland’s website and social media channels, as well as act as back-up for daily playlist curation and creation. This role will have direct involvement in our weekly live radio show, Thursdays @ Three, and will be an engaging mix of research, content creation, and interaction with local musicians and composers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research contextual and historical information about specific musical compositions and add this information to the digital database
- Develop policies and procedures for team to regularly update the digital files
- Import new recordings into the musical database
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in the current system
- Produce digital content both collaboratively and in a solo capacity for All Classical Portland including blogs, podcasts, and social media assets
- Collaborate with the International Children’s Arts Network (ICAN) team on content creation as needed
- Serve as artist liaison for our weekly live radio show, Thursdays @ Three
- Act as back-up to Director of Music and Programming and Assistant Program Director in daily playlist curation
Required Qualifications:
- Education or background in classical music history (bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively under deadline pressure
- Proficiency with Microsoft office
- Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and ethical communication
- Video and audio editing skills a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Creative problem solver; a self-starter who takes initiative to come up with new ideas and figure out how to make those ideas come to life
- Ability to interface closely with technical and non-technical staff to support All Classical Portland’s Mission
- Interest in and commitment to the core values of public service media
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of non-profits and radio a plus
Annual salary range is $40,165 – $47,237 dependent upon qualifications and experience. Generous benefits package includes: 100% employer paid health insurance (medical, dental, vision) for employees and their spouses/partners/dependents; 2% 401(k) employer match; starting PTO of up to 29 days per year. Membership in IBEW Local 48 required. Occasional nights and weekend work may be required.
