The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Cybersecurity Architect! We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills who has hands-on experience in IT risk management, information security, and cybersecurity operations. Position Details
OPB is looking for a highly skilled and strategic Cybersecurity Architect to design, build, test, and implement state-of-the-art security systems within our statewide IT network and broadcast infrastructure. The Cybersecurity Architect’s responsibilities include conducting in-depth security assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing robust defenses, and responding decisively to security threats. You will also be responsible for performing regular system tests, ensuring continuous security monitoring, and staying ahead of emerging cyber threats.
To be a successful Cybersecurity Architect, you should have extensive experience in information security, IT risk management, and security architecture, with a deep understanding of security protocols, authentication mechanisms, and cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies. You should also possess exceptional communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate across teams and drive a strong security culture.
Responsibilities
- Strengthens security posture by planning and delivering cutting-edge security solutions and providing expert guidance.
- Architects and implements secure networks and systems that exceed organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Defines and enforces rigorous security standards for LANs, WANs, VPNs, firewalls, routers, and critical network components.
- Develops and upholds rigorous security standards for user workstations (Mac and Windows), server, appliance, and IoT devices including endpoint monitoring and protection.
- Champions security awareness training for a staff of 250 users, fostering a culture of vigilance and best practices across the organization.
- Investigates and mitigates security incidents with thorough post-event analyses and rapid remediation strategies.
- Develops strategic project timelines for system upgrades and security enhancements.
- Identifies and eliminates security risks and gaps in IT systems by designing and executing comprehensive risk management plans.
- Conducts rigorous security testing and proactively monitors network security for potential threats.
- Validates security infrastructure through meticulous test script development and execution.
- Stays ahead of the curve by researching and adopting the latest security trends, standards, and industry best practices.
Working Conditions
Work Environment: This position will be hybrid working a minimum of 2 days a week in a typical office environment at OPB, although this can change based on business need.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, typical working hours. Will be required to be available to respond to technical and operational emergencies. Demands upon the position may require working non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to troubleshoot or solve critical problems.
Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT risk management, information security, and cybersecurity operations including enterprise security architecture
- Deep expertise in IT risk management, cybersecurity, and enterprise security architecture.
- Advanced knowledge of security protocols, cryptography, threat intelligence, and modern security frameworks.
- Proven experience implementing multi-factor authentication and zero-trust security models.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence security strategy across teams.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical people using plain language.
- Demonstrated success in designing and deploying enterprise-wide security solutions that balance the triad of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Collaborative mindset, and experience working within cross-functional teams.
- Enthusiasm for the mission of OPB.
Preferred Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional).
Additional Information
- This position reports to the Computer Network Architect, is unrepresented and benefits eligible.
- The probable hiring range for this non-exempt position is between $97,000 – $107,000 annually, depending on qualifications.
