Description
In this position you will join a team who manages LTN’s data centers and networks to build our highly reliable and scalable network infrastructure and core network services used to deliver broadcast media services developed by LTN engineering. You will be a significant part of a small but highly skilled team providing the foundation for the entire company. You will work with world class developers and engineers to build innovative new technology for media services in ways no other company is doing.
You will maintain and expand both the LTN backbone IP network and make core network resources available to all LTN products and services. You will provide technical research and testing on new network services and capabilities and help develop the automation and monitoring required to manage them at scale. This role involves hands-on management of production switches and routers as well as network architecture design and development of automation software at scale.
*Remote work with a preference for candidates near LTN hubs in Maryland, New York City, Los Angeles, and Kansas City
Responsibilities:
- Maintain core switches and routers in LTNs backbone data center network, video production facilities, and company offices.
- Leverage both Linux and hardware switch-based routing platforms to provide reliable data routing for core services as well as control and monitoring traffic.
- Develop automation software leveraging best-in-class open source as well as proprietary software to manage the configuration and monitoring of a global network of switches/routers.
- Provide engineering design and escalation support to switches and routers deployed at customer edge sites.
- Provide analysis, troubleshooting, and support to mitigate and resolve network outages or degraded performance.
- Create and maintain documentation of network infrastructure solutions and configurations.
- Participate in technical research on network related topics to enable continuing innovation and new capability development within the company.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, development and operations teams to design scalable network, private media cloud and video services on our global datacenter platform.
- Participate in 24×7 support when needed.
- Self Starter, proactively proposing and executing solutions for internal operations teams and customer deployments.
- Lifecycle and change management of data center hardware to ensure uptime, reliability, security and compliance with industry standards.
Experience:
- Technical experience with any of the following….VyOS and Linux based routing, Arista and Cisco L2 and L3 switches, BGP routing and peering, IGMPv2 and v3 with scalable PIM-SM for multicast, VXLAN and EVPN-VXLAN overlays.
- Experience with network automation libraries and platforms such as Arista’s eAPI and the open source NAPALM library for switch automation.
- Knowledge of sophisticated Linux network configuration, such as policy routing and multicast.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize based on business needs.
- Strong communication skills to proactively and openly share knowledge with internal teams and external customers on network related technology and services.
- Ability to take high level project descriptions and create detailed technical plans and then execute them.
- Proven track record of ownership of system(s) from design and implementation to administration and maintenance.
- Past experience with datacenter hardware beyond network gear and large scale datacenter projects and day-to-day operations.
Nice-to-Haves (not required):
- Experience with REST APIs.
- Experience with Broadcast designing and operating video networks using SMPTE 2110 and NDI.
- Experience with advanced WAN Internet Routing (BGP, BGP security, RPKI, DDOS scrubbing, Route reflectors).
- Experience with pmacct or other routing data collection and aggregation tools.
- Experience with Public Cloud networks in major providers (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Knowledge of the broadcast and media industry technology. Ex:Video encoding standards over IP (MPEG-TS), IP video transport protocols (RIST, SRT, Zixi), IP fiber video transport using for example Nimbra or Medialinks platforms
