Rhode Island Public Radio (RIPR) is based in the historic Union
Station building in the heart of beautiful Providence, RI. Home
to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence has become a haven for artists and entertainers. Providence boasts an eclectic mix of galleries, theaters and museums and has one of the most vibrant culinary scenes in the
nation. Rhode Island is surrounded by beautiful beaches and is a short distance from both Boston and New York.
The successful candidate for Weekend Host must demonstrate excellent vocal presentation, strong technical skills and meticulous attention to detail. RIPR is seeking a warm and friendly host for the Saturday and Sunday morning broadcasts of news, promotional, and underwriting content for the regional portions of “Weekend Edition” on Rhode Island Public Radio. The host must integrate network and RIPR content seamlessly. Candidates should enjoy working independently and be comfortable adapting to changing technology. Other duties include:
- Writes, records, and edits newscast items & interviews.
- Reports news and feature stories.
- Contributes to RIPR special projects.
- Represents RIPR to the community.
- Participates in Membership Drives.
- Other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of two years broadcast experience is required. Public radio experience is preferred. Must be proficient in live board operation, broadcast automation and digital audio editing. Must have experience preparing, writing and delivering newscasts.
Scheduled hours from 6:00am – 12:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This is a part-time hourly position.
