Joan DiMicco is a visionary digital product leader bringing data-driven innovation to public media and nonprofit journalism organizations. She is currently a professor at Boston University in the College of Communication, teaching marketing communication, audience analytics and product management. Previously, as Executive Director of Product at WBUR, she led the expansion of digital experiences by launching innovative products like the Boston News Quiz and working on digital transformation by bringing new analytical platforms and audience analysis capabilities to the organization. Additionally, she led BizLab, an innovation lab funded by WBUR, Knight Foundation, CPB and others, focused on exploring and testing new revenue and business models for public radio, mentoring public media leaders nationwide on innovation and product design. Joan’s earlier career included technical innovation roles as VP of Digital Customer Experience at Forrester and as a Research Scientist at IBM. She holds a Ph.D. and MS from MIT Media Lab and a BS in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.
