KUOW’s Department of Administrative Operations and Culture has an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Temporary Administrative Assistant. This position interacts with guests, customers and, staff as it helps cover the front desk of one of Seattle’s leading radio stations.  The position works approximately 10-20 hours a week as needed depending on coverage needs. The position begins Upon Hire and is expected to run through December of 2022. Potential future position extensions are dependent on staffing and operational needs.

BASIC FUNCTION

Provide front-line customer service including guest reception, answering phones and responding to listener questions and concerns via phone and email. Perform front office related clerical duties.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Answer phones, voicemail and email, transferring calls and forwarding emails to appropriate parties.

Respond to listener inquiries, complaints, and comments using independent print and electronic research.

Update customer service database with follow-up responses to telephone and email queries.

Grant access to and greet station guests, escorting them to the Green Room and alerting staff members of their arrival.

Dealing with uninvited guests according to KUOW policy.

Inventory, order, receive and distribute office supplies and equipment as needed or requested.

Collect and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.

Update and maintain staff contact lists.

Scheduling and booking speakers for the leadership and staff workshop and training series.

Manage the Director of Admin calendar.

Updating KUOW.org Board Public Online information.

Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required

High School/GED AND four years of office or administrative support experience OR equivalent education/experience.

Preferred

First-rate customer service skills exercising judgment and initiative.

Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency.

Ability to tactfully and intelligently respond to listener inquiries, complaints and comments using print and electronic research tools.

Ability to work independently to prioritize and execute multiple tasks.

General computer proficiency, including ability to use Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and standard office equipment.

Familiarity with KUOW and public radio programming and general awareness of news and current affairs.
