Description
The Annual Fund Campaign Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive individual giving program that incorporates cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for the Annual Fund. This position is responsible for increasing participation from individual donors who give up to $5,000 annually, resulting in long-term financial growth for the organization. The Annual Fund Campaign Manager will work closely with the Director of Annual & Digital Philanthropy and the Advancement Communications Manager to develop fundraising and engagement strategies and administer campaigns across multiple channels.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Executes the comprehensive annual giving program, including strategies to inspire giving from new donors, increase retention rates, re-engage lapsed donors, and increase average gift amounts.
- Acts as campaign manager for Annual Giving campaigns, including on-air drives, web campaigns, giving days, and stewardship campaigns; partners with stakeholders across teams to ensure that strategies can be executed as planned and logistical needs are met.
- Manages campaign logistics and develops complex project timelines using project management tools that reflect roles, tasks, and dates to ensure project scope is understood and work is completed as planned.
- Plans, coordinates, and executes effective fundraising drives and meets crucial revenue and schedule goals; works with appropriate staff to implement and manage strategies for each fundraising drive including logistical planning, staff scheduling, premium procurement and scheduling, and day-to-day management of the drives.
- Works with colleagues to ensure campaign assets (content, graphics) are deployed and integrated across all platforms.
- Acts as program manager for KEXP’s Amplifiers sustaining giving club; collaborates with the Director of Annual & Digital Philanthropy and Annual Giving team on strategies to acquire, engage, upgrade, grow, and steward the sustaining giving program.
- Collaborates with the Director of Annual & Digital Philanthropy to develop donor engagement strategies that include cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of target constituents across campaigns and channels, including digital.
- Manages premium selection for drives by leading collaborative brainstorms and strategies, developing quantities, ordering, scheduling for hourly use during drives, and assessing patterns of performance.
- Performs multiple roles during fundraising drives including (but not limited to): Producer, Room Supervisor, and/or communications roles; supports morale and mood of fundraising drive staff and volunteers in order to create an effective fundraising atmosphere and successful drive.
- Responsible for planning and working with Advancement Communications Manager and Advancement Operation Manager to implement multiple appeals and donor communications through direct mail and email platforms.
- Oversees corporate matching gifts, workplace giving, vehicle donation, and peer-to-peer giving programs by creating strategies and tactics for communicating with and stewarding donors; attends workplace giving events and develops relationships and partnerships with target companies to expand the repertoire of matching gift/workplace giving opportunities.
- Drafts on-air copy, pitch scripts, email, direct mail, and digital copy that incorporates audience and community-focused strategies, collaborating with the Director of Annual & Digital Philanthropy and Advancement Communications Manager as needed.
- Acts as a collaborative partner in developing strategies for sharing donor testimonials; performs outreach for donor testimonials and builds assets for a variety of platforms.
- Works with the Director of Annual & Digital Philanthropy and team members to monitor impacts of annual giving activities and analyze the effectiveness of KEXP fundraising methods and messages; uses data analysis to adapt and improve fundraising strategies as needed to increase donor giving, retention, and acquisition.
- Represents annual giving and annual giving strategic priorities in cross-functional working groups.
- Provides excellent relationship management to both external vendors and internal KEXP departments to ensure timelines, expectations, and requests for support resources and other assistance are communicated and confirmed well in advance, enabling the Advancement department to meet annual giving deadlines and goals.
- Provides back-up support to Donor Services activities during times of exceptionally high volume, such as fundraising drives, including, but not limited to, answering donor inquiries, auditing gift data, donor records maintenance, and processing requests for increased monthly gifts.
- Assists with and attends Advancement events as needed, including VIP concerts, donor receptions, and more.
- Manages projects as assigned and utilizes project management software to manage tasks, assignments, and deadlines.
General Organizational Responsibilities:
- Maintains thorough understanding of KEXP organizational policies, including employee handbook, procedures, expense reporting, and payroll submission; follows policies and leads by example.
- Actively participates in our culture of philanthropy, which honors the important role our donors, volunteers, business and community partners play in the life of KEXP. Collaborates across teams and departments to steward donors on behalf of KEXP and actively seeks opportunities to integrate philanthropy into their role within KEXP operations, programs, and projects.
Supervision Received: Position reports to the Director of Annual & Digital Philanthropy.
Supervision Exercised: May directly supervise Advancement interns and/or volunteers.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of fundraising and/or other related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Position Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental fundraising principles and practices.
- Proven experience in successfully managing teams of staff and volunteers to achieve project deliverables.
- Extremely goal–oriented with demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to take initiative and use independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines.
- Experience with computerized database software systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; ability to learn new business software programs as needed.
- Excellent strategic writing skills for a variety of formats.
- Must be able to work an irregular schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed, and additional hours as required during peak times.
- Experience building community and conducting outreach on behalf of an organization.
- Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
- An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on under-invited communities, either through lived experience and/or training and education.
- Commitment to advancing justice and equity in the arts with a passion for community building.

Physical Requirements: Long periods of being in a stationary position; operating a computer and other office equipment; frequently moving to/from various work areas; occasionally ascending/descending stairs; frequently communicating by phone and email; frequently remaining in a stationary position during meetings, discerning meeting content, expressing oneself, and exchanging accurate information; frequently moving to/from off-site meeting and/or event locations; occasionally moves supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Primary location in typical business office environment, with frequent meetings and event attendance at a variety of off-site locations. This position is eligible for up to 80% remote work, with an expectation of in-person availability for key business needs including drives, events, and other essential work duties.
Compensation & Benefits: This full-time, exempt position includes an annual salary of $71,000, as well as a generous benefits package which includes medical/dental/vision coverage (premiums 90-100% employer paid), retirement plan with matching, and much more.
