Job Description
The Assistant Director for Development- Leadership Giving will develop and implement a comprehensive annual plan for soliciting, securing and stewarding leadership/major gifts for KUT and KUTX. Assist with strategic collaborations in support of content and special project initiatives. Serve as an integral part of KUT’s membership and major giving program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute annual fundraising plan to increase contributions and maintain stewardship of KUT Leadership Circle members. Develop and execute a plan to move mid-level donors to Leadership Circle.
  • Assist in the identification, planning and soliciting of major donors to fund priority special project initiatives for KUT – including UT Gift Planning staff to identify and strategically cultivate planned giving donors and prospects.
  • With the Deputy General Manager and Director of Development, participate in and produce case development for initiative funding and to set fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Write grant proposals to foundations for identified station priorities; prepare and present proposals; identify, track and report on deliverables for grant-funded projects.
  • Lead, plan and participate in major donor events locally, regionally and nationally as needed. Supervise administrative support, volunteers and contractors as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate electronic documentation on a timely basis, including tracking and contact reports. Provide regular reports on fundraising results and prospect management to KUT management.
  • Collaborate with UT development professionals to maintain collegial working relationships; Participate in appropriate University Development meetings and events.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the station, of all different backgrounds and skills. Must have demonstrated ability to work well within a team and uphold and further KUT’s mission to provide a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 3 years in major gift fundraising with 5-7 years overall experience in fundraising, prospect management, donor cultivation and solicitation. Previous experience working directly with donors and volunteers. Strong understanding of major donor cultivation and protocol. Experience planning and implementing comprehensive annual fundraising strategies. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure and effectively manage details of several concurrent projects. Superior interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills. Proven track record of successfully meeting revenue targets through both prospecting new and upgrading existing accounts. Strong interest in public broadcasting and its case for support. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-oriented unit. Willingness to embrace the organization’s priorities and style. Demonstrated strong computer skills. Excellent professional demeanor. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
Public broadcasting funding raising experience. Allegiance donor database experience a plus. Experience in annual fund planning and execution. Experience promoting or securing planned gifts. Working knowledge of UT Austin’s structure, policies, procedures and VIP database. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments when accomplishing fundraising goals.

Salary Range
$70,000 – $80,000 depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
