Our staged productions commission authors, artists and radio hosts to create intellectually stimulating programs that delight and enlighten our vast public radio community. The Fitzgerald Theater is St. Paul’s oldest theater and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010.

Position Summary: 

As Box Office Manager for the Fitzgerald Theater, you’ll be in a highly visible role employing your exceptional customer service skills as you interact with theater guests, clients, vendors, sponsors and departments within Minnesota Public Radio. You’re a multi-tasking pro and will manage box office operations, provide training and scheduling, complete ticket sales accounting, respond to ticketing requests, schedule events, manage group sales, rentals and provide general administrative support.

Working closely with the Business Operations Manager and the Assistant Manager, you’ll use your excellent attention to detail to ensure all ticketing needs are met and external ticketing information is accurate, timely and correctly branded.  This includes making sure each ticketing vendor’s deliverables are utilized to the fullest capacity appropriate to the Fitzgerald Theater venue and assisting the Business Operations Manager with managing internal and external client relationships.

Position Responsibility: 

  • Oversee the Box Office operations and work direction for the Fitzgerald Theater; Including supervising events in the Box Office, provide ticketing sales and patron analysis and selling tickets.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, responding promptly to customer inquiries and requests; training box office personnel in customer service standards.
  • Prepare events for on-sales; including circulating information and updates related to all events to all box office staff, event listings and emails.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships related to ticketing. Communicate on a regular basis information regarding ticket sales and revenue to all clients. Manage and maintain the comp ticket list. Assure all comp requests can be honored and fill all requests for events.
  • Schedule all staff in the Box Office for day time business hours and events, ensuring adequate coverage of phone sales and in person sales. Also scheduling to ensure adequate coverage of events at the theater, and for remote box office events.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with current ticketing system company; including a thorough working knowledge of our current ticketing system’s contract and keeping up to date with all training and new tools offered by current ticketing company.
  • Lead the Box Office staff through any ticketing vendor changes or technology improvements.
  • Work with internal and external constituents to implement digital and social media ticketing functions, as needed.
  • With Business Office Manager and Assistant Manager, be the lead coordinator of Group Sales ticketing strategies.
  • Maintain relationship with MPR membership and Development departments regarding memberships and special seating needs.
  • Oversee the Box Office staff in incorporating use of the CRM system into their daily ticket selling activities.
  • Maintain consistent knowledge and updating of ticketing accessibility issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two to four years Box Office experience; minimum of  two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong ticketing system experience; proficiency with Etix ticketing system is highly desirable. 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Excellent customer services skills and a friendly and professional attitude; ability to work well with other people.
  • Cash handling and reporting experience essential; ability to process, analyze and report sales, patron and ticketing information.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Box Office and ticketing trends and best practices including scaling of houses.
  • Must have the desire and ability to successfully work as a part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of ticketing and services for patrons with accessibility needs.
  • Strong Microsoft Office program skills: Excel, Outlook, Word.
  • Ability to learn new software systems competently.
  • Highly adaptable. 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Strong experience using Etix software.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.com or other Constituent Relationship Management tools.
  • Knowledge of Twin Cites arts community.
