Description
WXPN, the non-commercial radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, is looking for a Broadcast and Video Engineer.
Duties
The Broadcast and Video Engineer, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Engineering, will oversee all studio and control room equipment for WXPN-FM. This includes consoles, audio and video recording and playback equipment, remote equipment, satellite downlink facilities, broadcast transmission equipment and off-air monitors. Train staff and ensure proper usage of all audio and video equipment. Perform equipment installations and upgrades, assist with EAS reporting and preparing weekly station logs for FCC filing. Assist IT department by providing station IT support. In conjunction with the Digital Content Manger, provide technical coordination for in house and remote live audio/video broadcasts which includes installing and operating audio/video equipment and the hiring and supervising of tech support for various productions. Supervise interns/work-studies in the engineering department. Serve as primary backup for Director of Engineering. Any and all other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Electronic technical school graduate, Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required. SBE certification a plus. At least three years experience as a radio station maintenance engineer preferred. Component level maintenance skills, knowledge of standard wiring conventions used in the industry, mechanical skills and the ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings are a must. General usage and troubleshooting knowledge of broadcast and video industry equipment is required. Computer skills including familiarity with all operating systems and basic computer maintenance are required. Familiarity with public radio is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license.
