Description
Michigan Radio, the public radio station of the University of Michigan, is seeking a full-time substitute host and producer to assist in a variety of broadcast production and reporting assignments.
We are searching for a professional, energetic, personable on-air host and producer who can handle a variety of duties in a fast-paced atmosphere.
NOTE: This job will include working early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Job Description: Act as permanent full-time substitute host by filling in for regular anchor shifts during permanent host time off (and as operational needs arise), operate board equipment and broadcast audio consoles, gather field tape, on-air fundraising and participation in community events. Candidate will also contribute story ideas, interview ideas and work on new media/web. Projects and other duties in the Programming Department as assigned.
Desired Qualifications: Excellent on-air presentation; familiarity with public radio values and procedures; strong editorial judgement; digital editing skills; ability to produce high-quality work on deadline, and handle several projects at once. The idea candidate will have excellent radio skills, a high quality broadcast presentation, experience in public radio, and superior writing and production abilities. Solid grasp of tools used at Michigan Radio including Adobe Audition, ENCO and Newsboss.
Required Qualifications: At least four years of professional radio experience, plus a bachelor’s degree in journalism, telecommunications, or related field. The candidate must be self-motivated, organized and have experience in broadcast production.
