Capital Public Radio is seeking a dynamic classical music host to add to our creative, experienced and expanding team. Are you warm and engaging on air? Key Functions

  • Hosts daily, midday air shift engaging listeners with compelling stories and entertaining sidebars connected to the music
  • Assists Classical Content Coordinator in scheduling music across all dayparts, helping to craft CapRadio’s distinctive sound
  • Conducts artist interviews and produces features for Music and News formats and across digital platforms
  • Brings classical music expertise to appearances on CapRadio programs such as “Insight”
  • Plays a lead role in CapRadio’s community engagement efforts, including educational outreach, forums and convenings, and collaborations with other arts organizations

Key Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of classical music, including composers, performers, eras and related information
  • Excellent enunciation and foreign language pronunciation skills
  • Broad understanding of classical music scheduling philosophy, striving for consistency with variety
  • Experience using music scheduling software is preferred but not required. Aptitude for learning Music Master is essential
  • Understanding of social media and how to engage an audience on appropriate platforms
  • Awareness of digital media and audience engagement trends
  • Facility with digital editing software (Adobe Audition preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills
