The Fitzgerald Theater is committed to programming that reflects the audience and mission of Minnesota Public Radio. This 1,000-seat theater acts as MPR’s largest broadcast studio. Our staged productions commission authors, artists and radio hosts to create intellectually stimulating programs that delight and enlighten our vast public radio community. The Fitzgerald Theater is St. Paul’s oldest theater and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010.
Your role:
Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the Concessions Coordinator plays an important role in theater operations. As Concessions Coordinator, you lead by example and deliver superior guest service in a fast-paced, clean and safe environment. You are responsible for driving revenue in order to meet/exceed budget goals. Additionally you are responsible for the concessions operations for the Fitzgerald Theater, including enforcing polices, scheduling, training and documentation with the concessions staff. Assist the Business Operations Manager with internal and external client relationships as well as concessions inventory control, product ordering, pricing and vendor relations. Provide assistance to the Business Operations Manager and will also provide general administrative and Box Office support as needed.

Day to day responsibilty:
We are seeking a concessions coordinator who will
- Oversee the concessions operations for the Fitzgerald Theater.
- Provide excellent frontline service to visitors; ensures the concessions staff provides the highest level of service, in a quick and efficient manner.
- Assist in the creation of and maintain goals and procedures for the Concessions area.
- Supervise front of house staff night of show; support concessions staff with restocking product during events.
- Interact, make recommendations, meet with internal and external clients regarding concession needs.
- Manage cash handling; prepping tills for service, making change, counting, balancing tills at end of night.
- Maintain and report on sales and inventory.
- Do pre-show set up, creating signage, detailing bar notes for staff.
- Be responsible for scheduling and communication with concessions staff.
- Provide training and work direction to concessions staff, including, standards for alcohol service, food service, customer service and POS
- Select concessions products to support increased revenue; develop concepts/recipes/batching for specialty cocktails related to show themes and to boost revenue.
- Maintain inventory, tracking and ordering for all products sold through Fitzgerald Theater
- Implement and enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol, sanitation, health and safety requisitions, laws and policies
- Adhere to all applicable company, state and federal laws and guidelines
- Maintain and update POS system with current pricing and sales items; check pre-show to insure POS system is in proper operating order.
- Maintain equipment and areas used by concessions; using proper vendors for servicing and repairing equipment.
- Assist in ticket office as needed, selling tickets to Fitzgerald events through the Box Office, online or over the phone.
- Provide administrative support to the Business Operations Manager. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate
- High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two years or more theater front of house concessions or bartending experience.
- Two years or more experience providing work direction to others.
- Ability and skill in supervising, motivating and communicating with concessions staff.
- Excellent customer services skills and a friendly and professional attitude.
- Knowledge of current industry standards and best practices for concessions/bartending.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
- Cash handling and reporting experience essential.
- Strong Microsoft Office program skills: Excel, Outlook, Word.
- Solid writing skills; creativity and imagination.
- Highly adaptable to deal with various ticketing issues.
- Ability to work well with people.
- Ability to deal discretely and sensitively with disruptive or dissatisfied patrons.
- Must have the desire and ability to successfully work as a part of a team.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Ability to lift 50-60 lbs.
- Frequent use of hands for data entry/keystrokes and simple grasping.
- Transporting product up and down stairs
- Required to walk, sit, and stand; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; frequent use of hands. Move about in the theater, including navigating crowds, climbing one or more flights of stairs, as well as moving about on the upper levels of the balcony; upper balconies require comfort at highest points of theater. Should be comfortable navigating in a low light situations with the assistance of a flash light.
