Description
Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is currently seeking a full time Coordinating Producer to provide the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Media and Education Department with creation, oversight and implementation of budgetary, scheduling and contracting duties for multi-million dollar grant-based media and outreach projects. This individual also ensures timely and accurate financial forecasting, reporting, review and payment. Projects include television series and digital content, interactive gaming, educational outreach, training and events. The ideal candidate will also have experience coordinating with union crews, external media production contractors and project consultants. This is a grant-funded position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Develops and manages multiple STEM media and education project budgets, ensuring financial practices and records are accurate and compliant with cash-flow and funder requirements utilizing TPT’s budget and financial management systems.
* Creates media production schedules in consultation with TPT’s staff, vendors, distributors, and crews.
* Creates project budgets that support partner expectations, TPT pricing practices and revenue expectations.
* Works with legal staff and leaders of various teams (i.e., media, digital, education, research, and evaluation) to develop and implement contracts, ensuring that TPT is protected against risk and that deliverables, costs and timelines meet project requirements.
* Secures and manages the rights and maintenance of program records to support multi-platform use of project outputs and comply with established legal practices in conjunction with the legal staff such as SAG/AFTRA performers and performers’ rights associations (BMI/ASCAP). Books, secures and manages talent contracts and payments for on air and online productions.
* Manages packaging and delivery processes and communications to meet PBS and/or other distributor requirements.
* Completes ongoing project forecasts, portfolio review of variances and reviews project financials, communicating the information to STEM and Finance Department leadership.
* In partnership, with Producers hires and manages external production staff and contractors to execute projects.
* Ensures compliance with organized labor agreements.
* Consults/advises on development and negotiations of financing (funder) and distribution.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience with national media production and financial management on multi-million-dollar budgeted projects.
* Experience working on multi-media projects (broadcast series, digital content, animation, interactive gaming, educational outreach, events, trainings, etc.) preferred.
* Specific work experience with the production of children’s educational media television series and/or federally funded projects, including hiring and negotiating SAG/AFTRA performer contracts strongly desired.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the resources needed to create high-end multi-media products.
* Superior attention to detail and able to successfully handle duties with accuracy in a fast-paced, multi-client setting.
* Experience working with multiple financial and scheduling software programs.
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
* Ability to function in a multi-tasking environment with competing deadlines.
* Experience with COVID Production Safety guidelines and processes a plus.
* Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
