This is a full time permanent position in the BC Foundation and supported by KBCS.  The Development Coordinator is responsible managing relationships with donors, prospect, financial planners, and advisors.  Ensure that our clients and prospects understand the benefits of giving to Bellevue College, and how we positively impact Washington State, the US and Global initiatives. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of database management including gift processing, customer service, and member and donor communications.  The position supports the Associate Directors of Development – Annual Fund and KBCS in meeting annual and special campaign related fundraising goals.

This Development Coordinator works in the BC Foundation office and will report to the Associate Director of Development – Annual Giving.   This position will have primary responsibility for tracking and reporting KBCS’s and the Foundation’s Annual Funds.  This position will support the BC Foundation Board of Directors and other key volunteers to achieve annual fundraising goals of the Foundation including the Become Exceptional Luncheon.

Responsibilities include supporting the Director of Development and other staff as appropriate in the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts; preparing reports and maintaining the database, processing contributions, drafting gift acknowledgment letters, coordinating successful fundraising and donor acknowledgment events, and researching donor prospects and constituent groups.

Essential Functions/Typical Duties

The Development Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Serve as a donor relations contact for prospects and donors to the Foundation and KBCS
  • Build and monitor relationships and passive solicitation of contributions, support and donations from current and potential donors in a variety of venues
  • Process gifts to KBCS and the Foundation
  • Create standards and protocols to assure accurate and consistent record keeping and data entry into Raiser’s Edge CRM
  • Maintain confidential information
  • Create and manage fundraising reports for analysis and audit purposes
  • Conduct research for donor visits.  Mining information, analyze and create report.
  • Coordinate with KBCS and Annual Fund in executing appeals, renewals, and all member mailings
  • Timely and effective acknowledgment to donors, supporters and friend of the BC Foundation including written, verbal, electronic and public acknowledgement
  • Monitor donor benefits and ensure that they are executed in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Assist with Foundation and KBCS events as required
  • Provide administrative support
  • Conduct and record donor research, as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Core Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • 3 – 5 years of work experience in development and/or public radio
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong skills with CRM systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Must have a commitment to diversity
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; databases and donor management software
  • Effective interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Competency working with Raiser’s Edge or another constituent relationship management system
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Event planning experience
  • Experience with social media campaigns and assessment
  • A strong commitment to higher education and community-based public radio

Specific Position Requirements:

  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed
