TITLE Development Manager (Full-Time)

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Vice President for Development

GENERAL FUNCTION

The Development Manager is responsible for revenue generation for Nashville Public Radio through individual mid-level and major giving. The Development Manager raises funds through acquiring and maintaining relationships with donors, as well as through direct mail, e-communcations and on-air pledge drives. The Development Manager directs targeted fundraising appeals in order to develop higher renewal rates, increased levels of giving, and overall growth in individual donor revenue. The Development Manager evaluates the success of the development program throughout the year and makes necessary adjustments to meet goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Raises funds for the support of Nashville Public Radio by setting and achieving monthly fundraising goals.
  2. Cultivates current and lapsed donors and prospects regularly through phone calls, personal correspondence, e-communications, hand written acknowledgements, and personal visits.
  3. Manages quarterly contacts with donors ($500+) and oversees recognition of new Producers’ Circle donors ($1,200+/year).
  4. Writes effective letters and utilizes donor file segmentation for more personalized approach.
  5. Writes and edits grant proposals. Manages the grant reporting and proper close out of grants and contracts. Maintains contact with funding agencies.
  6. Coordinates events including pledge drives, donor lunches and dinners, events with NPR or PRI personalities, community engagement opportunities and live performances.
  7. Develops fundraising and event promotion strategies for social media.
  8. Utilizes donor database to track information, search, import and extract donor lists and other information, and analyze data. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of various aspects of fundraising campaigns and makes adjustments in strategy in order to reach the overall goal.
  9. Provides monthly reports of activities and income.
  10. Helps to ensure the continued success of Nashville Public Radio by performing all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: Two years experience in organizing and implementing fundraising activities is required. Experience working in membership campaigns is preferred.

Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and complex donor database applications, including the ability to learn new applications, is required.

Other: Must be able to lift and carry objects up to thirty pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation. Must be available to work outside regular hours during fundraising campaigns and events.
