Description
WYPR 88.1 FM, Baltimore’s NPR radio station, is seeking a part-time, temporary Digital Communications Associate to join our digital department. The Digital Communications Associate is responsible for executing WYPR’s audience development strategy to increase the reach of our content and deepen our engagement with our online audience. We are looking for a professional who is creative, solutions-oriented, and who takes initiative.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage WYPR’s daily social media presence
- Write and schedule posts for WYPR’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
- Produce video content for our social media platforms and YouTube channel
- Monitor discussion on our online platforms, respond to questions, gather audience feedback for monthly reports
- Collaborate with content creators on audience engagement projects
- Find new avenues for audience growth
- Build and send newsletters to our robust member database
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience writing and producing content for social media platforms
- Familiarity with content management and email marketing systems
- Strong news judgment
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work across platforms and juggle multiple deadlines
- Knowledge of social media, newsletter, and digital publishing best practices
- Strong copyediting skills
- Video and audio editing skills
- Previous experience working in a news environment preferred
- Photo editing and graphic design skills a plus
Position type/expected hours of work:
- 20-25 hours per week. Position is a 3-month contract with possibility of extension.
