KCUR 89.3 is seeking an experienced editor to direct the digital production of KCUR’s Kansas News Service, a reporting collaboration of public media stations throughout Kansas.  This position is based in Topeka, Kansas.

The editor provides editorial leadership and daily oversight for the team, which encompasses reporters based (and employed) at various stations. The editor makes assignments, edits content distributed digitally (including podcasts), and sets ambitious coverage goals. She/he facilitates an environment for the ethical practice of journalism and enforces ethical principles.

The editor ensures this collaboration functions appropriately and efficiently by building strong relationships and supporting the needs of partner stations. The editor manages distribution of KCUR’s Kansas News Service content to other media outlets across the state, region and nation.

The editor also creates content, participates in community engagement efforts, and appears as a guest on talk programming and podcasts.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to work on diverse projects simultaneously and across platforms in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment; take direction and work collaboratively with various personalities; and produce to the highest journalistic standards.
