It is a key media presence in the state and has a growing regional impact across the Mountain West.

Position Overview:

This position sets the strategic course and systematically oversees the execution of the tactics needed to achieve goals within the membership department; supervises the membership manager and provides oversight of the membership department, with responsibility/accountability for fundraising outcomes; manages and advances the Boise State Public Radio (BSPR) Broadcast Society, an annual major-giving group; identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards relationships with station’s major donors (includes individuals, foundations, and companies) with the goal of raising large gifts and funding that leads to transformational advancements; maintains a calendar of foundation prospects and makes successful applications for grant funding; interfaces with colleagues in the University Advancement (UA) division, operating in accordance with all UA policies and procedures with respect to donor/prospect management; likewise, represents BSPR and the station’s mission and financial interests.

Essential Duties & Tasks:

  • Works closely with the station’s General Manager (GM) and direct reports to lay out clear expectations regarding fundraising goals for the station.
  • Devises, composes and implements an annual strategic development plan and executes to goal.
  • As a member of the station leadership team, attends manager’s meetings and strategy sessions, and contributes to the team’s decisions.
  • Collaborates with GM and Business Manager to create a development department budget; oversees the membership department’s budget management, and manages own individual budget (varies depending on efforts underway).
  • Works individually with the GM, Community Board of Advisors, senior managers, and other stakeholders to prospect, cultivate, solicit, and steward new fundraising sources.
  • Stays abreast of listener research and demographic trends in the Idaho communities that the radio station serves; helping to create, execute, and assess listener/member surveys, when applicable.
  • Sets the strategic course and oversees the planning and execution of Membership Department goals, particularly regular on-air membership drives.
  • Leads Membership Department personnel, displaying the flexibility and strategic mindset to monitor, assess, regroup and redirect as needed.
  • Meets regularly with the membership team to strategize and to stay abreast of industry best practices, devising plans to systematically incorporate these practices.

Minimum Qualification (Including Certificates and Licenses)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 8 years experience including 3 years managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
