Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing all engineering, information technology, and broadcast operations technical infrastructure in fulfillment of the organization’s mission.  In this position, you will report to the president and chief executive officer, and:

• oversee all resources associated with the creation, packaging, and distribution of all content and programming for the organization;
• develop and implement short- and long-term plans to fulfill the mission and vision of the organization;
• manage engineering and information technology staff;
• oversee broadcast operation functions and staff and serve as WSKG’s interface to Joint Master Control operations;
• work collaboratively with other directors to achieve highest level of impact and return on all local content production;
• oversee Engineering/IT and Broadcast Operations budgets;
• ensure consistent and high-level quality for all television and radio broadcasts;
• ensure that all technical infrastructure complies with FCC regulations and licensing requirements;
• participate in WSKG fundraising activities;
• professionally represent WSKG in the community;
• hire, evaluate, train and discipline staff as needed; and
• perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Must Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
• At least five years of television and radio engineering experience
• At least five years of management experience
• Strong communication and management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a related field
• Experience working within FCC standards and requirements
• Familiarity with public broadcasting’s national programming services (PBS, NPR, PRI, etc.)
