Description

The Director of Underwriting Sales will lead the sponsorship sales effort at 88.5-FM in Los Angeles & Orange County, CA selling their media assets, including sponsorship messages on 88.5 KCSN, KCSN.org and event sponsorships.  Managing others that may be selling as well. The position requires developing new outside underwriting sales business while growing and maintaining current business. The Director of Underwriting creates strong, long-term relationships with clients based on good sales techniques, stewardship, and service. The Director also writes sponsor announcements for underwriters, and advises clients on all matters of media as needed. As this is an outside underwriting sales position, the expectation is that the incumbent will be in the field the as needed of the week with the possibility of being asked to attend office meetings and/or complete paperwork one day a week. Consequently, The DOU must be excellent at time management, and a proven self-starter that manages their day / week wisely. Utilizes station software for announcement placements, client reports, sales projections and billing. Monitors the collection of money owed by underwriters and advertisers. Serves as an ambassador to the business and art community on behalf of the station; attends client events, station events, and community events as deemed necessary by the General Manager.  Also, helps design special events for which underwriting sponsorships may be sold; assists the General Manager in the procurement and maintenance of trades for the station as needed.  Participates in fundraising activities; performs other duties as assigned. When budgets are available, recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates underwriting staff and interns as needed. Provides General Manager with weekly sales reports, including, but not limited to sales forecasting, pending lists, sales KPI’s to be identified. Manages Underwriting inventory / working with traffic director. Creates and maintains sales collateral materials, including rates card approved by GM.
