Description
Detroit Public Television (DPTV) is the non-commercial, viewer-supported PBS-member station watched by more than 1.5 million people in Detroit and Southeast Michigan and another 1.2 million people throughout Canada. Our vision is for a community in which people trust public media to help them discover new ideas, make informed decisions, and enjoy enriched lives.
DPTV offers 10 hours of PBS Kids programs each weekday, along with other favorite local and national programming and news shows, such as PBS Newshour. The station is notably active in the community producing local programs that showcase arts, culture, and news analysis using the power of media to provide knowledge and understanding.
DPTV, a 501(c) 3 organization licensed to the Detroit Educational Television Foundation and governed by a volunteer board of trustees from the local business, civic, and cultural communities also manages WRCJ 90.9 FM, Detroit’s classical and jazz radio station, in collaboration with the license-holder, the Detroit Public Schools. The radio station is located in the Detroit School of Arts.
In addition to the main channel 56.1, the station also operates Detroit PBS Kids Channel, 56.2; WORLD 56.3 and CREATE 56.4.
We are actively pursuing dynamic and diverse team members to join us in the role of Education Coordinator in Wixom, MI.
What You’ll Do:
The Education Coordinator is responsible for collaborative planning, monitoring, and coordinating the execution and fulfillment of DPTV’s education initiatives, with particular attention to meeting all grant and contract deliverables, reporting, and deadlines. To achieve this work, this position will work closely with DPTV’s education unit, as well as internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Work with DPTV’s education team and senior managers to build partnerships with key community stakeholders and integrate them into DPTV’s education activities
- Build project plans against defined deliverables, seeking input from stakeholders, community partners, and content matter experts
- Create and reconcile project budgets
- Manage multiple timelines and deliverables and regularly track the project status
- Keep detailed records on all project activities in order to meet reporting requirements and to prepare documentation on procedures, practices, and resources required for successful implementation of DPTV outreach programs with partners and community agencies
- Help develop and work with the production and creative teams around educational campaigns, event planning, educational workshops, and online materials in support of DPTV’s educational activities
- Assist in the presentation of DPTV education workshops and training activities, with a goal of being able to lead such activities independently
- Collaborate with key DPTV partners on joint activities and mutual support
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in Education or related field required
- Experience working with innovative technologies in education, including project-based learning techniques preferred
- Project management experience preferred
- Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and some holidays
