- EDUCATION INTERN – FALL 2023
KERA is looking for an intern for Fall 2023 to help the Education team with projects to provide meaningful learning opportunities for families and young children across North Texas.WHO WE ARE:
KERA reaches more than 2 million people weekly through KERA TV, KERA News, KXT, WRR and Art&Seek. For more than 60 years, North Texans have turned to KERA as a destination for trusted educational programming and initiatives, community engagement and lifelong learning.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Our organization is in the process of developing several new learning programs for young children, using high-quality resources from PBS and other trusted sources. We also collaborate with community partners to extend our reach to schools, families, and communities across the region, particularly in underserved areas. This reflects KERA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our ongoing effort to serve diverse audiences and create a culture of belonging.
The position is FLSA classified as non-exempt and will report directly to the Education Director.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
· Support with Family and Community Learning Workshops (prep, on-site support when possible, and research)
· Support with data entry and help analyze workshop parent assessments including attendance records.
· Help education team develop and execute the Summer Learning Challenge including creating materials for the website.
· Other projects related to engagement with the community
· Help research instructional projects
· Perform additional duties as assigned
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL:
Qualified applicants must be current students (in an accredited degree program) or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to the start of the internship. Spanish bilingual is a plus.
You should have knowledge of public media and social media practices, plus strong writing skills and website design and implementation. Also, fluency in English and Spanish or another language common in North Texas.
PAY:
$16 per hour paid on a bi-weekly pay period. Interns can expect to work 15-20 hours per week.
LOCATION AND SCHEDULE:
The internship is based in Dallas/Fort Worth, but interns can work an occasional hybrid schedule. Due to the number of events and workshops, we are unable to accommodate fully remote internships. Interns should have some availability between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Additional hours will include evenings or weekends (events and workshops). Hours are flexible, and we’ll work with you to accommodate class schedules.
The internship will begin around August 28, 2023-December 8, 2023. There may be opportunities to extend the internship into the Spring 2024 term.
