KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is Seattle’s NPR news station. We are an independent, nonprofit news organization producing award-winning journalism, podcasts, and events in service to the 3.9 million people in our coverage area. As a self-sustaining service of the University of Washington, our mission is to create and serve a more informed public.
KUOW has an opportunity for a Finance Program Administrator to help develop policies on hiring practices, report on staffing, supervise the payroll function and manage and track data reporting related to staffing, internal and external diversity reporting, compliance reporting and open positions tracking. The ideal candidate will be comfortable within a financial department, working with managers and staff from other departments and generally enjoy being part of a collaborative unit in a public radio environment. This is a full-time position and reports to the Director, Finance & Administration.
BASIC FUNCTION
Develop and manage administrative processes which support the Finance and Administration department’s general functions and special projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Personnel Processes Management (40%):
-Supervise payroll function
-Coordinate with appropriate University departments including UWHR to disseminate information to management and staff as required.
-Interpret UWHR (payroll, leave and hiring) policies to disseminate information to management and staff as required.
-Serve as back-up HCM Initiate and Time and Absence Initiate in Workday (UW HR and Payroll system). Assist KUOW staff with time and leave entry. Assist with the facilitation of new hire entry and set-up, staff changes, and all other business processes of Workday.
-Maintain KUOW job descriptions and organization charts. Communicate with KUOW management on updates of both.
-Act as key liaison and conduit between Finance/Admin and KUOW staff; provide information to and problem solve with KUOW employees as needed.
Compliance/Reporting (20%):
-Manage employee data reporting, including EEO reports, monthly headcount analysis, and internal reports on staffing, diversity and compensation equity as needed.
-Oversee compliance with various required staff trainings for CPB and UW.
Facilitate FCC renewal process and regular FCC compliance documentation. Manage the station EEO program, sending new job postings to community organization list, tracking, and analyzing job posting sources to ensure wide and diverse dissemination, and collating job posting data for annual report.
-Create and write narrative for annual EEO report based on collected data and staff input.
-Create and write annual CPB Station Activity Survey (SAS) and Diversity report based on collected data and staff input.
Policy/Process Improvement (20%):
-Assist in evaluation, development, and implementation of new and improved administrative processes. Discuss and interpret processes and policy for staff; create informational summary materials and spreadsheets for use by same.
Special Projects (20%):
-Manage special projects as assigned. Coordinate and communicate with senior management, staff, and outside vendors as appropriate. Create communication documents to facilitate projects and keep key stakeholders informed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Finance Assistant (Fiscal Specialist – Payroll)
Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2 years work experience in report preparation, process management, and/or organizing workflow.
• Verbal and written communication proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and to prioritize and execute multiple tasks while exercising judgment and initiative.
• Ability to manage fiscal functions and efficiently complete detailed transactions and routine fiscal work.
• Demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
• An understanding of a non-profit environment and familiarity with public radio programming.
