The Board of Directors of the Friends of WWOZ, Inc. seeks a General Manager to lead WWOZ into the future.

WWOZ 90.7 FM is a music based community radio station currently operating out of the French Quarter in New Orleans. WWOZ’s mission is to be the worldwide voice, archive, and flag-bearer of New Orleans culture and musical heritage. Listener supported, volunteer-programmed, WWOZ has a professional staff of 20, and an annual operating budget of approximately $5 million.  With a strong local reach, ‘OZ’s audience extends worldwide – over 50% of listener support coming from beyond our broadcast area.  ‘OZ is committed to harnessing the power of media across platforms to serve the vibrant world-class local musical and cultural community and to extend its impact worldwide.  An early adopter of audio streaming resulted in a robust video department and highly active social media and digital presence. Utilizing mobile apps, online media and radio, we are the city’s go-to source for daily live musical listings, Second Lines, local musical history, Mardi Gras Indian culture and much more.  https://www.wwoz.org/

WWOZ-FM is licensed to the Friends of WWOZ, Inc, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation established by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Foundation for operating WWOZ. Position Overview:

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the implementation of Governance Board policies and the supervision and direction of the overall operations of WWOZ.

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum five years’ experience in media or a related industry.
2. Minimum five years’ in increasingly responsible management/leadership experience.
3. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
