SUMMARY:
Texas Public Radio’s mission is to engage, inspire and inform, to empower our community to make life better. We are an award-winning, multimedia organization serving a digital and broadcast audience of up to 1 million across South Central and West Texas. We are non-profit and community supported.
TPR is seeking an experienced Grants Coordinator, responsible for identifying grant opportunities, writing and coordinating grant applications and administering grant awards. Responsible for administering a 50-75 grant/prospects portfolio, with a goal of coordinating $500,000 to $1M per year in successful grants. This position will report to the VP of Development.
The Grants Coordinator is an independent problem solver, who takes initiative to resolve questions across departments, and move processes forward in identifying, applying for and administering Grants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide hands on coordination of grants though their full life cycle from research to fulfilment and serve as organizational subject matter expert.
• Adhere to grant timeline and calendar to ensure grant compliance and maximize funding opportunities. This includes maintaining the calendar and communicating upcoming deadlines, responsibilities, and follow-through to ultimately ensure all stakeholders meet deadlines and fulfill their responsibilities for specific grant applications and reports, providing appropriate lead time and context.
• Develops, maintains, and ensures proper grants management procedures are in place and consistently followed, including but not limited to due diligence procedures, grant writing and reporting, award letters, grant agreements, and systematic and thorough maintenance of all digital and physical files related to the grant cycle.
• Utilizes Every Action as an integral part of the grant cycle documentation and tracking.
• Utilizes Metasoft Systems Foundation Search for researching and identifying potential funding sources.
• Coordinate fiscal compliance; working closely with finance team and program budget managers regarding grant restrictions, expense tracking, spending, and documentation.
• Will be cross trained in various Membership Department tasks including but not limited to entering pledges and payments and updating donor information in Every Action; preparation of donor correspondence and premium fulfillment for mailings, delivering mailings to post office, and providing phone support for member calls.
• Will be required to attend occasional membership and donor events outside of normal business hours.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
• A combination of 5 years of education (Bachelor’s degree) and/or experience in public administration, business, client engagement, or non-profit fundraising.
EXPERIENCE:
• Three years related work experience in successful grant administration or applicable field. Successful grant administration experience in San Antonio is preferred.
SKILLS:
• Comprehensive knowledge of how to identify funding prospects, submit and coordinate proposals and administer grants.
• Experience with donor management systems and foundation search tools strongly preferred.
• Experience with electronic grants administration and submission systems.
• Ability to foster an environment that supports teamwork, collaboration; and high-quality proposals and comprehensive and timely reporting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Time management and exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Strong analytical, computer and interpersonal skills.
• Must have a valid Class C driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.
