KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is Seattle’s NPR news station. We are an independent, nonprofit news organization producing award-winning journalism, podcasts, and events in service to the 3.9 million people in our coverage area. KUOW has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing Project Manager reporting to the (Interim) Chief Marketing Officer. The Project Manager has responsibility for coordinating and advancing station-wide initiatives and marketing campaigns. They will define business requirements, establish SMART goals, identify KPIs, analyze data, document decisions and workflows, manage calendars and budgets to ensure projects are launched on time and on-budget. Projects may include technology infrastructure refreshes/changes; data and reporting infrastructure development; new program launches; marketing campaigns and events; vendor management; and business process analysis/improvements.
The Project Manager will define business needs as well as assess impact and cost. They will collaborate cross-functionally to develop solutions. The PM will manage communications with (and expectations of) clients, leadership and support staff; address the competing interests of varied stakeholder groups; and work cross-functionally with Content/Programming, IT, the Digital Team, Community Engagement, Marketing, Membership, Corporate Sponsorship, and Operations to obtain the right mix of internal/external services to achieve project goals.
Job Duties
Project Management
• Define stakeholders, objectives, scope, risks, and success criteria for core KUOW marketing and audience development projects.
• Process business requirements documents. Develop communications, timelines, and measurement plans.
• Manage the expectations of the project team, end users and sponsors with clear ownership structures and timelines.
• Acquire leadership approvals at various project stage gates.
• Monitor project schedules – identifying and addressing project issues; escalating to management/administrative roles when necessary.
• Manage project communications to include the sharing of team meeting minutes, project status reports, and issue/risk logs.
• Manage costs, budgets and vendors as needed for large marketing initiatives, including paid media campaigns and audience research projects.
Project Documentation
• Ensure key project documents remain up-to-date throughout the project life cycle.
• Create and implement detailed Go Live Plans for marketing campaigns, show/podcast launches, and communications pieces.
• Discern and process lessons learned in ways that improve future work, including leading debrief meetings.
Project Coordination
• Foster and maintain cooperative relationships with a wide variety of internal and external business and technical partners.
Requirements include:
• BA in business, marketing, communications, or comparable degree/experience, plus 3+ years’ experience managing complex integrated marketing campaigns/projects
• Demonstrated familiarity with sound project management and business analysis methodologies and tools.
• Demonstrated accountability related to project process, communications, risk assessment, needs definition, work definition, status tracking, change management and overall project success.
• Proven ability to adapt communications to a range audiences (Executives-Managers-Staff).
• Ability to perform basic data analysis using standard tools and systems
• Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
