ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

WUSF Public Media is a comprehensive public media organization that operates an NPR news and jazz radio station and an all-classical music radio station, and provides digital content online, through newsletters, podcasts and social media and serves a weekly audience of greater than 350,000. It is a department of the University of South Florida, with 70 employees and a budget of $12 million and provides paid internships to students. WUSF Public Media’s main studios are on the USF Tampa campus, with a broadcast and music performance studio on the USFSM campus and an office and news production studio on the USFSP campus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Membership Manager manages and oversees the day-to-day gift management operations for WUSF Public Media’s Membership Department.  They are responsible for maintaining the audit trail for all membership contributions to WUSF Public Media. Overseeing the financial and stewardship processes based on a calendar schedule, they also will serve as the liaison with the WUSF banking institution, USF Foundation and WUSF Business Office. The Membership Manager serves as a back up to the WUSF Business Office’s Fiscal and Business Specialist, and assists with reconciliation and file transfer processes in their absence.  Reporting to the Director of Membership, the Membership Manager will be exposed to all of the daily administrative and fundraising functions of the Membership department, and encouraged to attend relevant meetings, so that in the absences of the Director, all vital fundraising and operational functions continue without a pause.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Membership Manager works directly with the Membership Director to oversee and manage the financial and customer service policy and procedures, including: timely handling of contributions and acknowledgements (all gift entry processing and procedures); and the processing of daily, weekly and monthly scheduled calendar functions such as monthly renewals, processing credit cards and ACH contributions, and thank you letters, pledge bills, premium reports, etc.

The Membership Manager manages the three employees responsible for all membership contributions from receipt to deposit, to member acknowledgment in accordance with IRS regulations, maintaining an audit trail of all membership transactions, including credit cards, electronic fund transfers, foundation gifts, corporate matching gifts, vehicle donations, etc.  Issues receipts to donors according to IRS rules and regulations.  Assists WUSF Business Office, USF Foundation Central Records and USF Foundation Business Office as needed with gift questions and processing.

Assists Membership Director with revenue and cash flow projections. Manages and oversees training sessions for staff and CRM (Allegiance) and oversees the building and updating of giving pages, source codes, campaign codes and premiums. Works with Database and Membership Coordinator to develop segmentation and pull timely reports.

Serves as a back up to the WUSF Business Office’s Fiscal and Business Specialist in their absence to ensure that files are cross walked to the USF Foundation, all uninitialized transactions are cleared, and Membership reconciles with USF Central Records.

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree with two years’ experience or a Master’s degree. Appropriate graduate coursework or vocational training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

PREFERRED:

Three years of fundraising experience preferred. Knowledge of membership-based fundraising operations and software is strongly preferred. Allegiance Database experience a plus.
