Rhode Island Public Radio (RIPR) is based in the historic Union Station building in the heart of beautiful Providence, RI. Home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence has become a haven for artists and entertainers. With the largest number of working artists in the country, Providence boasts an eclectic mix of galleries, theaters and museums and has one of the most vibrant culinary scenes in the nation. Rhode Island is surrounded by beautiful beaches and is a short distance from both Boston and New York.
The Morning Edition Producer is responsible for supporting the Morning Edition Host in developing and presenting timely and creative regional news programing and integrating regional news seamlessly into ME. The producer helps to prepare scripts and report stories. The producer also posts news stories and audio online and assures the overall acurracy of local news reports.The producer plays a crucial role in generating new ideas for news stories, interviews and features. The producer will be called on to help schedule and pre-interview guests for host interviews, conduct research, draft questions and edit interview tape.

A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year relevant experience in reporting and/or producing is required. Knowledge of Rhode Island and New England is preferred. Fluent Spanish is a plus. Must be proficient in digital audio editing. The successful candidate loves news, possesses the ability to stay cool under pressure and thrives when meeting tight deadlines.
Scheduled hours from 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. This is a full-time position.
