Description
Trinity University’s KRTU-FM, San Antonio, seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Operations Manager. KRTU is a non-commercial jazz and alternative rock station run by a professional staff, community hosts, and students. The mission of KRTU-FM is to support and enhance the academic curriculum and to advance Trinity University’s leadership in the fine arts.
Function: Primary responsibility will be the day-to-day operations of radio station hardware and software as directed by station management and in cooperation with KRTU’s contract engineer.
Scope: Duties will extend to peripheral station systems such as webcasting, web maintenance, and emergency alert systems. The Operations Manager also contributes to KRTU production including the creation of underwriting spots, station imaging, and remote broadcasts and studio sessions. The Operations Manager works with staff, faculty, students, and community hosts to see that the KRTU mission is achieved. The Operations Manager may teach a one-hour course in KRTU announcing or production.
Typical: In cooperation with KRTU’s contract engineer, maintains and advances all KRTU broadcast systems to include station’s automation and network system. Is responsible for all office technology and oversees capital inventory.
Periodic: Contributes to the production of underwriting announcements, promotional spots, and specialty broadcasts in line with the mission of KRTU including the production of the South Texas Jazz Project, Live from Studio B, and KRTU sponsored event recordings (remote broadcasts). Handles a daily on-air shift and provides fill-in announcing as necessary.
Radio Broadcasting
Preferred: Knowledge of non-commercial radio station operations including basic knowledge of FCC rules and regulations and advanced knowledge of computer systems (knowing Wide Orbit a plus). Should have production experience and knowledge of production applications (Pro-Tools and Adobe Audition a plus). Must have reliable transportation. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in radio and broadcast operations.
Equipment:
Required: Standard computer application systems including Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs.
Possible: Radio Automation systems (Wide Orbit), Pro- Tools and Adobe Audition a plus
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred: Communications / RTF experience
