ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
WUSF Public Media is a comprehensive public media organization that operates an NPR news and jazz radio station (WUSF 89.7) and an all-classical music radio station (WSMR 89.1, 103.9), and provides digital content on line, through newsletters, podcasts and social media and serves a weekly audience of greater than 350,000. It is a department of the University of South Florida, with 70 employees and a budget of $12 million and provides internships to students. WUSF Public Media’s main studios are on the USF Tampa campus, with a broadcast and music performance studio on the USFSM campus and an office and news production studio on the USFSP campus.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Programming Fundraising Producer reports to, and works closely with Program Director to help plan, produce and implement on-air fundraising events for news station WUSF and classical station WSMR. Position collaborates with Membership Fundraising Producer in advance of, and during 50+ on-air days of fundraising and contributes to on strategic planning initiatives throughout the year.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position will be required to work on-site during campaigns; can work in a hybrid scenario throughout the year on testimonials, schedules, writing, production, recording, network logistics and planning. Ideal candidate will be highly organized, deadline and solutions oriented.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning, coordinating and managing on-air fundraising content and logistics prior to, during, and following on-air fundraisers. This includes scheduling and concise communication with staff, script-writing, promotions, managing all aspects of live and funder show logistics, manage production and spot inventory throughout campaigns, network collaboration and coordination, pitch, direct and coach as needed, prepare and update pitch materials, and collaborate with WUSF Public Media departments to assure all tools are available in the organization’s on-air fundraising toolbox.
Develop and manage local and national fundraising spot inventory for all campaigns as well as production for year-round fundraising. Write and produce local fundraising materials for all on-air campaigns for air and web. Coordinate and produce listener and custom network testimonials year-round.
Work with Program Director and Membership Fundraising Producer to develop effective on-air, year-round fundraising materials and campaigns that fit seamlessly into station sound for WSMR and WUSF, while focusing on listener. May include audio, copy for announcers, video, and other multi-media opportunities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting or Communications and one to three years of radio broadcasting operations, on-air production or traffic systems; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above.
PREFERRED:
Experienced broadcaster with a passion for radio, fundraising and audience service; strong production skills; comfortable engaging and connecting with listeners; excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills; strong team-player who seeks out ways to collaborate.
