KUOW is hiring for a new and critically important role, full-time Project & Production Officer, Philanthropy. The primary duty of KUOW’s Project & Production Officer, Philanthropy is to support the fundraising efforts of our Philanthropy team. The Officer serves as an ambassador with the other many units of KUOW, while producing intimate events for a small but mighty audience of highly valued supporters and donors. The Officer, using their design and marketing skills, will explore, identify, test, and implement enhancements to the way we go about our work in philanthropy. The goal is to lead us toward greater efficiency and productivity, while supporting each member of the team creatively. Along the way, you will build tools and resources that will improve our performance as a team.
The Officer integrates deeply with other units within Development, especially our Membership and Marketing teams, ensuring consistency of message, design, and execution of shared campaigns. The Officer will work to enhance information sharing with an eye toward identifying risks and opportunities early enough to inspire action, placing KUOW in a position of strength, ready to capitalize on fundraising opportunities.
The Officer may have a breadth of experience in any number of fields – marketing, fundraising, administration, teaching, real estate, finance. They will likely know what it means to be a ‘cat herder’ and thoroughly enjoy the task. This role brings cohesion, fosters trust and confidence, and crosses every ‘t’ and dots every ‘i’. BASIC FUNCTION
This position focuses efforts on increasing support for KUOW by proactively knowing and understanding each of the moving parts within Philanthropy and working daily to improve them to the benefit of KUOW supporters. This role collaborates with nearly every team at KUOW, bringing people and projects together, developing and implementing campaign materials which strengthen our message and our relationships with donors. Producing events, designing and producing collateral material for supporting fundraisers, reporting, analysis, and other administrative projects are central to this role.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management (30%)
• All in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy, facilitates production of annual plans for KUOW’s individual and institutional programs, and develops their own personal annual plans which align with KUOW’s strategic impact framework (SIF); generates quarterly assessments of Team’s progress toward goals.
• Produces weekly, monthly, and annual reporting on productivity of fundraising income, identifying, and resolving discrepancies where they arise, in collaboration with our finance and technology teams.
• Working in collaboration with other development staff, seeks out partnership opportunities with an eye on efficiency and information/resource sharing. Helps lead and create collaborative fundraising campaigns within Development at KUOW.
• Serves as gatekeeper and producer for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Philanthropy team, ensuring each process is documented, regularly reviewed and updated as necessary, at least annually.
• Validates and quality controls the appropriate, accurate and timely entry of each Philanthropy units’ submissions of supporter engagements into Salesforce, according to SOPs, identifying any issues/errors and providing necessary training to ensure reliable data for reporting and analysis.
• Collaborates with technology team to innovate tools and procedures.
Event Production (35%)
• Produces small scale receptions which precede and follow official KUOW events.
• Produces 4-6 annual virtual events for Philanthropy donors, coordinating with the team on topics, speakers, presentations, and technology.
• Produces, with the support from colleagues in Philanthropy, 2-3 in-person events annually for philanthropy donors, including the event format, logistics, venue, invites, RSVPs, and presenter/speaker setup.
Design & Project Management (25%)
• Leads on design and production of collateral materials for Planned Giving, Corporate/Foundation and Major/Mid-Level Giving programs.
• Designs and produces proposals, invitations, appeals, brochures, and other materials for philanthropy team, from brainstorming to fulfillment. Supports writers with content for pieces where appropriate and necessary.

Occasional task-oriented work-study or part-time employees and volunteers.
Requirements include:
• A bachelor’s degree and at least two years of progressively responsible experience in development, teaching, customer service or similar fields. Equivalent combination of comparable knowledge and skills may substitute for education and/or experience.
• Some familiarity with design, creative writing, and design software.
• Project management experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate successfully in writing, by phone or in person.
• Proven ability to work professionally, collegially, and effectively with donors or other constituents, colleagues, and the public.
• Ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, and handle multiple projects and deadlines in an organized and professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented setting and commitment to aiding colleagues within and outside the bounds of Philanthropy.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
• Experience planning and executing virtual and live events.
• Familiarity with philanthropy programs.
• Familiarity with marketing, prior experience in marketing a strong plus.
• Familiarity with and appreciation of public radio programming.
• Working knowledge of databases desirable, specifically Salesforce.
• Multi-lingual.
