Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking a Colorado Matters Producer.

About the Position:

The Colorado Matters Producer identifies and showcases unique content that speaks to life in Colorado on the Western Slope. This position produces long-form interviews to air on Colorado Matters and is responsible for producing Western Slope-based short-form content that can air in the daily newscast, including content derived from long-form segments or content that is newscast-first or digital-first for CPR.org.

This is not a remote position. Our Colorado Matters Western Slope Producer  is expected to reside in the Grand Junction area upon starting. 

About You

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

You are a skilled audio producer with strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cohesively with a team. You’re a clear and concise communicator. You have an inquisitive nature with a talent for brainstorming ideas, workshopping them with a team, then taking the concept and producing it to completion with little guidance. You have a proven track record of editorial and creative ownership. It’s critical that you have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years of producing experience broadly related to the position. This experience should include experience producing long-form interviews.
  • A minimum of 3 years background in reporting, with print / digital writing experience.
  • While not necessary, it would be beneficial if you have audio experience with Audition and prior experience working with field audio recording kits.
  • While not necessary, it would be beneficial if you have knowledge of Colorado’s Western Slope and familiarity with the area.

Education Equivalency

  • A fully relatable bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree may replace some of the required years of experience. .

Position Type: Full Time

Hiring Range: Grade 17, $61,100 – $76,300

Structure Title: Producer, Colorado Matters

Starting Pay: based on education and experience.
