Summary:

This position is a fundraising professional who leads all CRNC fundraising campaigns for mid-level donors who give $1000+ annually. This position is responsible for the design and implementation of all mid-level individual giving campaigns, including direct mail and digital campaigns, donor stewardship, customer service, and donor acknowledgments.

The Relationship Officer creates and leads a coordinated program of fundraising activities to increase the number and giving level of mid-level donors and meet fundraising goals. This position will also be the primary contact for CRNC’s legacy giving program.

This position works closely with the Director of Development, President/CEO, and Membership Manager to ensure CRNC has a robust pipeline of prospective major donors.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact in the Development Department for mid-level donors and prospects, primarily for donors who give between $1,000 – $9,999 annually.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Development and Membership Manager, creates and executes a stewardship, marketing, and communication plan for mid-level donors.
  • Manages the CRNC portfolio of mid-level donors to steward, retain, and grow these donors.
  • Assesses mid-level donors to make recommendations to move them up the pipeline to the President & CEO where appropriate.
  • Develops and tests strategies to acquire new mid-level members, retain current members, upgrade contributions, and identify and cultivate new individual prospects.
  • Develops strategies and creates specialized communication materials i.e., quarterly communication pieces, requests for renewal, acknowledgments, and project reports.
  • Maintains a strong model of trackable touch points for the overall mid-level giving program.
  • Tracks and analyzes results of communication vehicles and responses, adjusting activities where appropriate.
  • Creates stewardship opportunities that provide continued engagement with mid-level donors, including event invitations, email correspondence, surveys, in-person meetings, and phone calls.
  • Researches donors through wealth and donor analytic tools to strengthen the database and provide detailed reports, as needed.
  • Analyzes giving level trends and retention rates to maximize the success of renewal and upgrade strategies.
  • Meets and/or exceeds measurable targets for each fiscal year associated with the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors to achieve cash and commitment goals for CRNC.
  • Serves as the primary contact for CRNC’s legacy giving program. Manages digital planned giving resource vendors, answers donor questions around planned giving, and coordinates planned giving mail campaigns, surveys, and digital resources.
  • Meets and/or exceeds key fundraising goals.
  • Ensures that all donors and donor interactions are tracked accurately in Raiser’s Edge and that individual gifts are acknowledged in a personal, timely, and appropriate manner.
  • Oversees continuous research, development, and up-to-date knowledge of prospects and works with key team members to coordinate contacts.
  • Creates post-event emails and surveys for guests.
  • Collaborates with the Membership Department to develop, implement, and test strategies to grow and strengthen the donor pipeline.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assists with station events, including event registration, set-up, and other event-related tasks as needed.
  • Attends public media webinars and conferences when applicable.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Public media fundraising best practices.
  • Ethical fundraising principles.
  • Familiarity with FCC regulations regarding non-commercial licensee fundraising guidelines is helpful.
  • CPB and other compliance requirements.
  • Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, Engaging Networks, or similar donor CRM software.

Skills

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Suite, such as Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing utilizing proper grammar.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Perform work professionally, with ethics and integrity, and maintain confidentiality when required.
  • Commitment to the professional standards and ethics of fundraising.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience successfully managing a portfolio of mid-level donors or equivalent nonprofit experience.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

 

Physical Demands                                              

The employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach and lift with arms, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to frequently lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee typically works indoors in a standard office environment but is required to travel to other locations for station events and donor meetings.
