Sales Specialist (Underwriting Representative)

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The primary focus is business underwriting fundraising through overseeing and participating in the renewal of existing contracts and prospecting for new support. This individual identifies new opportunities for corporate sponsorships, such as online and mobile opportunities, event sponsorships and more. The full-time employee works with and reports to, the WAPS General Manager to meet the revenue goals of the radio station.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
 Bachelor’s degree;
 Three to five (3-5) years sales experience and/or training or
the equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
 Must have previous proven sales experience;
 Excellent sales leadership, interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, excellent written and communication skills;
 Experience with generating new/active leads along with the implementation of sales organization within database software.

 Passion for public broadcasting;
 Detail-oriented;
 Analytical – analyze inventory problems and propose a solution;
 Knowledge of local market, including decision-makers, local events, and key accounts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Meet or exceed the underwriting sales goal on a monthly basis;
 Follow the procedures for setting individual salesperson and station budget goals;
 Effective evaluation of market performance and development of action items to maximize revenue potential in the market;
 Hold weekly goal meetings with sales team to review sales pacing, results, and activity;
 Reinforce, coach, and encourage, the team on personal and individual account development and systems/procedures.
