The Opportunity

We have a new and unique opportunity! OPB is hiring a Systems Administrator who has experience working with a Media Asset Management (MAM) system.

You’ll manage the technical upkeep and continued evolution of OPB’s Media Asset Management system. This encompasses everything from server maintenance to workflow design and implementation, to integration with third party on-prem and SaaS solutions. Our MAM’s team goal is to use technology and processes to simplify, automate, and abstract complex media workflows to remove operational barriers.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to modernize and streamline how OPB’s content team creates and distributes content. The work you’ll do will directly contribute to the quality and quantity of journalism and audiovisual output that OPB’s storytellers create on a day-to-day basis.

Position Details

The Media Asset Management (MAM) Systems Administrator is responsible for implementing, upgrading and managing the daily operations of the software, hardware and networks that support OPB’s Media Asset Management System while ensuring security and availability of services. The Systems Administrator also performs IT project work and general IT maintenance.

Responsibilities

85% – Responsible for the software and hardware that comprise OPB’s Media Asset Management system.

  • Install and configure software and hardware including Microsoft server infrastructure, VMWare Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, detection/prevention systems, remote access, infrastructure and system hardening, patch deployment and vulnerability management.
  • Look for ways to optimize both day-to-day operations and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Create and maintain documentation for IT systems and operations.
  • Participate in PCI compliance and cybersecurity planning and implementation.
  • Actively participate in skills enhancement opportunities.
  • Be a resource and liaison between Information Technology (IT) and other departments.
  • Set up accounts and workstations.
  • Use system monitor tools to track performance and create reports for leadership.
  • Serve as a member of the MAM Governance and Support team that solves user issues and defines workflow enhancements.
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
  • Train staff on new technologies.
  • Engage with vendors to plan version upgrades and patching as needed.

15% – Support ongoing IT projects and non-MAM systems.

  • Administer and maintain the OPB domain.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment with heavy computer use and some data center work. Must be able to occasionally respond to after-hours support communications and travel for remote site visits. Demands upon the position may require working non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to trouble-shoot or solve critical problems. Will be required to be to be available to respond to technical and operational emergencies. Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs and moving 75lbs required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience administering a media asset management system.
  • 2 years systems administrator experience.
  • Proficiency managing Microsoft Server Operating Systems (Windows 2012r2/2016).
  • Experience with performance monitoring, trending, and optimization.
  • Database management experience.
  • Experience with enforcing system security policies/procedures.
  • Experience working with the following technologies:
    • Data backup and recovery solutions
    • Windows 10 workstations
    • LTO tape archives
    • FAS/NAS Storage
    • Cisco or HP Network Products
    • SharePoint
  • Experience developing, documenting and implementing policies, standards and operating procedures.
  • Experience dealing with media file types such as MXF, WAV, MP4, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to convey technical concepts and knowledge through concise documentation and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines.
  • Experience providing superior customer service, and interacting with various business units, project stakeholders, and external business partners.
  • Ability to support IT system security projects, coordinate efforts with team members, maintain proper communication to management as well as contribute to the overall success of the project through completion.

  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • PCI Experience
  • Workstation Imaging (Windows)
  • Anti-Virus solutions
  • Experience applying ITIL/IT best practices
  • HP server configuration; HP certification
  • Experience with business continuity or disaster recovery strategies
  • Experience writing in shell or scripting languages
  • Experience with ManageEngine ServiceDesk ticketing system and collaborative/agile project management techniques

Additional Information

  • This position reports to the IT Manager and is benefits eligible.
  • The probable hiring range for this exempt position is between $75,000 and $85,000 annually, depending on qualifications.
