KUOW is currently hiring for a Traffic Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of KUOW’s Traffic Department. This position will coordinate all aspects of program continuity, ensuring that the planning, production, execution and reporting of underwriting and promotional messages runs smoothly, in support of revenue and marketing goals and in service of creating the best possible experience for our audience. KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is Seattle’s NPR news station. We are an independent, nonprofit news organization producing award-winning journalism, podcasts and events in service to the 3.9 million people in our coverage area. KUOW is currently hiring for a Traffic Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of KUOW’s Traffic Department. This position will coordinate all aspects of program continuity, ensuring that the planning, production, execution and reporting of underwriting and promotional messages runs smoothly, in support of revenue and marketing goals and in service of creating the best possible experience for our audience. This position reports to Traffic Manager. It is full-time and based in our Seattle office. The position will be 100% remote until KUOW’s office is able to reopen, based on local Covid-19 regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities  

Traffic Operations (70%)

The Traffic Coordinator will support the day-to-day operations of the trafficking department, coordinating the scheduling of underwriting and promotional materials for broadcast, web, email, streaming, podcasts, and more.

Broadcast and Digital Daily Messaging Operations

·         Assist with the management of the weekly broadcast schedules, including responding to any programming changes, preemptions or last-minute revisions
·         Process and input underwriting, marketing and fundraising schedules into the traffic system, coding them to the proper accounts.
·         Review and schedule Sales Orders for KUOW broadcast underwriting and provide contract confirmations to internal and external clients.
·         Produces broadcast program logs to be sent to the master control booth, monitor log use for accuracy, and prepare log documentation (including underwriting reports).
·         Manage scheduling, forecasting, and delivery performance of web sponsorships on KUOW.org using Google Ad Manager.
·         Manage scheduling of email promotion in station email calendar, including the coordination of assets with newsletter teams.
·         Manage scheduling, forecasting, and delivery performance of streaming and KUOW podcast sponsorships using Triton Digital.
·         Backfill as needed in the coordination of regional/national representative firm orders.

Creative Asset Coordination

·         Maintain copy/creative deadlines for underwriting and promotional messaging campaigns and send missing copy/creative reports every Tuesday and Thursday (or as needed) to the Business Support, Fundraising, and Marketing teams.
·         Manage traffic approval in Salesforce for KUOW underwriting and promotions. Maintain copy standards including checking for grammar, syllable count, pronouncers and functioning URLS before spots are approved.

Inventory Reporting

·         The Traffic Coordinator will assist Traffic Management in providing inventory reports for business support, development, and marketing teams weekly (or as needed), including forecasting availability and estimated impressions on various channels.
·         Communicate to team leads when we are approaching sell out, the need for “High Demand” broadcast clocks or are at full sell out during weekly scheduled team meetings.

Reporting and Invoicing (25%)

The Traffic Coordinator will support the reporting and invoicing needs of KUOW’s business support team.

·         Review and report on the broadcast and digital performance of Business Support (Underwriting) and Marketing (Promotions) messaging campaigns.
·         Report any spots (underwriting or promotional) that were preempted or written as a discrepancy to campaign manager.
·         If necessary, provide options, if available, for “Make Goods” for paid campaigns that need rescheduling
·         Reconciles and posts broadcast logs for each billing cycle to ensure they are ready to be invoiced
·         Prepare and send digital invoices to business support clients

Other duties as assigned (5%)

Requirements include:

·         High School graduation AND two years of experience working in broadcast traffic, and/or coordinating / scheduling paid ad /media /multi-channel campaigns OR equivalent education/experience.

·         Experience working in a deadline and detail-oriented environment
·         Solutions-oriented with comfort troubleshooting technical issues
·         Comfortable learning and mastering new software programs and being an “in house expert”

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired:

·         Proficiency with Marketron, Triton Digital, Google Ad Manager, Salesforce, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
·         Familiarity with public media and/or experience working at media organization or ad agency
·         Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
·         Statistical ability highly desirable
