The Opportunity: 

We’re recruiting a Volunteer Coordinator! We are grateful to have an amazing volunteer program full of talented, enthusiastic community members who support our work. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with them as well as coordinating with multiple departments here at OPB. Position Summary: 

The Volunteer Coordinator supports the engagement of volunteers to build organizational capacity. This position supports key areas of the community’s involvement with OPB including intake, tracking, recognition, scheduling, and supervision of volunteers. Additionally, this position administers in-house logistics with other departments to facilitate volunteer involvement. This position provides general support for the Volunteer Engagement department and excellent customer service to the general public.  

Working Conditions: 

Work environment: The Volunteer Engagement team works on a mixed hybrid basis using equipment provided by OPB. This position will spend at least one day working in person at OPB’s offices per week. Much of the work requires the use of a telephone and computer. Travel will be required to assist with event preparation, transporting supplies, and to attend occasional events off site. This role can anticipate being in office for a full week to support volunteer events approximately 8 – 10 times a year.  

Schedule: This position works 40 hours/week, most often during OPB’s business hours (approximately 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, flex hours possible) although frequent evening and weekend work will be required.  

Physical Demands: This position will assist with transporting, loading and unloading supplies with a need to lift and move up to 25 lbs, sometimes with the help of a handcart.

Manager, Volunteer Engagement 

Supervises:  

Supervises volunteers assisting with various tasks, no direct reports 

Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes): 

  • Two years of successful experience working with volunteers. 
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional business relationships. 
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced working environment, able to handle a high volume of tasks and balance multiple priorities. Adaptable and flexible to the demands of workflow and nature of projects.  
  • Fluent use of computer software tools (especially Microsoft Office and Google suite) and effective database skills. 
  • Comfortable working in a change-oriented environment. Able to participate in thinking outside of the box, propose solutions, and help implement them.  
  • Well organized, systematic, motivated and efficient.  
  • Clear and articulate written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support multiple projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse personalities and varying levels of knowledge/experience. 
  • Ability to work effectively with team members, including cultural competence to collaborate well on a team that values diversity.  
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record. 
  • Ability to develop a familiarity about OPB in order to speak articulately and passionately about OPB’s mission, programming and platforms.  

Preferred (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes): 

  • CVA (Certified Volunteer Administrator). 
  • Experience with Volgistics. 
  • Experience working with volunteers remotely and in person. 

Additional Information:  

  • This position reports to the Manager of Volunteer Engagement, is unrepresented and is eligible for benefits.  
  • The probable hiring range for this exempt position is between $24.86 – $26.50, depending on qualifications. 
  • This position has access to highly sensitive data and therefore must pass a background check. 
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license and requires consent to OPB conducting a driving record check. Employees will not be allowed to use a company or personal vehicle for work purposes without completion and satisfactory results of this check.
