The Opportunity
OPB has one of the most robust volunteer programs in the public media system with some of the most innovative volunteer roles. OPB’s hundreds of volunteers support content creation, provide administrative support, engage with the public during membership drives and events, and assist with all aspects of OPB’s operation. This volunteer coordinator role supports volunteer involvement in various virtual/remote and in-person projects and provides administrative support for the Volunteer Resources team.

Position Details
The Volunteer Coordinator supports the engagement of volunteers to build organizational capacity. This position supports key areas of the community’s involvement with OPB including intake, tracking, recognition, and scheduling of volunteers. Additionally, this position administers in-house logistics with other departments to facilitate volunteer involvement. This position provides general support for the Volunteer Resources department and excellent customer service to the general public.

Responsibilities
10% – Oversee application and paperwork processing of volunteers. Coordinate tracking and record-keeping of volunteer skills and interests. Support department reporting on various program metrics. Supervise volunteers assisting with these tasks. Recruit volunteers from a variety of sources, as appropriate.

35% – Coordinate and support logistics, planning, and volunteer involvement in various in-person and remote volunteer projects. Oversees in kind donor program for food needs. Coordinate setup, takedown and troubleshooting of computers, phone systems, and other equipment, as needed. Support scheduling of volunteers for new and existing projects and programs. Support and/or oversee day-to-day logistics, communications and work products. Supervise volunteers assisting with these tasks.

10% – Contribute to and support OPB’s ongoing volunteer recognition and appreciation programs, including annual events, periodic mailings and other activities

35% – Support implementation of new in-person and remote volunteer engagement activities. Work closely with Manager, Volunteer Resources to collaborate with staff from around the organization in helping to identify, configure, resource and recruit for roles that encompass a variety of tasks, skill levels, time commitments and work units. The Coordinator’s tasks may vary from day-to-day support and supervision of those volunteers to supporting a day-to-day supervisor in another work unit.

10% – Coordinate maintenance of Volunteer Resources database, paper files, and other information systems.

Working Conditions
Currently, this position operates remotely (from home) and makes extensive use of a computer. Eventually, this position will become hybrid, with some time spent in OPB offices using a computer and telephone, and some time spent remotely (from home). May include travel to pick up event supplies and to attend off-site events. Frequent evening and weekend work may be required. Moving up to 25 lbs. required.

Minimum Qualifications
• Two years of successful experience working with volunteers.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional business relationships.
• Must thrive in a fast-paced working environment, able to handle a high volume of tasks and balance multiple priorities. Adaptable and flexible to the demands of workflow and nature of projects.
• Fluent use of computer software tools (especially Microsoft Office and Google suite) and effective database skills.
• Comfortable working in a change-oriented environment. Able to participate in thinking outside of the box, propose solutions, and help implement them.
• Well organized, systematic, motivated and efficient.
• Clear and articulate written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully support multiple projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse personalities and varying levels of knowledge/experience.
• Valid driver’s license and must be able to pass an OPB driving record check
• Ability to develop a familiarity about OPB to share information about OPB’s mission, programming and platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
• CVA (Certified Volunteer Administrator).
• Experience with Volgistics.
• Experience working with volunteers remotely.

• This position reports to the Manager of Volunteer Resources, and is benefits eligible
• The probable hiring range for this nonexempt/exempt position is between $21.00 and $24.00hourly depending on qualifications
• For the safety of our employees, the contractors/vendors we work with, and the public we serve, OPB has a mandatory COVID vaccination policy and all employees are required to show proof of vaccination.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license and will require consent to OPB conducting a driving record check. Employees will not be allowed to use a company or personal vehicle for work purposes without completion and satisfactory results of this check.
